Before we all forget what we actually would like next year, what was your favourite gift that you received?

I am very pleased with the very naice bottle of fino sherry I received from a naice looking posh West End booze shop, from my Secret Santa. I am looking forward to opening that when the weather is a little warmer.

I am also going to cheat and add another one, as it is my birthday today, and I am thrilled with the Penhaligon scent library my husband gave me for that too.

A small narrow necked vase to propagate an acorn to grow an oak tree - it's already sent out a long root into the water below so fingers crossed

Twiglets1 · 02/01/2024 17:51

I got a really lovely print from my daughter of an area I used to live in (nostalgic) and an experience voucher for a visit to a trendy cinema with cocktails from my son - lovely thoughtful gifts.

I also treated myself to some lovely new sunglasses just in case I didn't get anything I liked from anyone else. I treat myself to something nice every year 😄

Two beautiful Tenniel prints from my daughter. I'm an Alice lover, hence my user name.

Oh the Lego Bonsai is amazing! We’ve strung a small set of fairy lights around ours to light it up for Christmas! Grin

I am.secretly enthralled by the Sylvanians my MIL got DD. She gave me the greatest gift: quiet.

ChristmasIsComing2024 · 04/01/2024 00:32

Toe socks!! I know that probably sounds weird but I’ve wanted them for ages but my dp really doesn’t like them but he got me some and it really was a great suprise 🤗

SomeFiggyPudding · 04/01/2024 07:31

Ooh the bath tray my mil bought me! Totally unexpected, but I love it!

Dd1 bought me one of these for my birthday last year, baths have levelled up in a serious way since then 😂😂

My favourite Christmas presents were candles, I love them and always have them burning when I’m at home, one in my office and one in the kitchen. I burn one in the front room when I’m finished work and go downstairs to relax! I don’t really get presents from many people at Christmas as they buy for the dc instead but those that do buy for me always go with candles and it’s always appreciated.

My dad, who has form for buying terrible presents, was sent by DH to my favourite indy clothes shop. The lady who owns it guided him well and I got two really 'me' tops (absolute winner compared to last year's 4pm Christmas Eve purchase of Argos jewellery!)

peachescariad · 04/01/2024 10:24

The large Curtis the cavapoo cuddly from Tesco, off my DD - I love him! 😆

Norathesnorer · 04/01/2024 10:33

4 nights in Sardinia with my partner!

elQuintoConyo · 04/01/2024 10:37

Six vintage postcards of the French village we spend so many holidays in. They have stamps and addresses and everything still on - they're just beautiful! I need to find a way to frame them as dme at landscape, some upright.

I was blown away by the gift and tears were shed.

SuitYouSir · 04/01/2024 10:40

Lego Mario Piranha Plant (from DH) and Taylor Swift coaster (from my fellow Swiftie niece). It’s the little things.

A photo printer - absolutely love it as have sooo many photos on my phone but forget to get them printed. This one I can quickly use the app and print the photos I want Smile

Daisylou24 · 04/01/2024 13:50

The shark hairstyler.
Covid has really damaged my hair and I can no longer have any colour on it. This has really impacted my confidence, I’d mentioned the hairstyler a couple of times in passing but in a I wonder if they are any good way rather than a I want it.
I was so shocked on Christmas morning to receive one and after using the styler, for the first time in months I feel confident with my hair.

Bloom15 · 04/01/2024 14:13

My mum being released from rehab (Pell is fracture bit drink or drugs 😂) and then coming to ours for Christmas Day
Getting 1 of my cataracts done - I am only 43 ha!

Actual presents:
2 of my favourite perfumes
Pink gin
Make up

Hedjwitch · 04/01/2024 14:16

A little cast iron incense burner and a heated seat cover for the car ( plugs into cigarette lighter) were my favourites.
And a silver and amber heron brooch.

caringcarer · 04/01/2024 14:28

DH bought me a yellow gold ruby and diamond necklace and matching earrings. I used to prefer white gold and platinum so most of my jewelry is that but the last 2-3 years I now prefer yellow gold. I also got an electric cushion I love for my bad back.

That is such a thoughtful gift. Someone loves you very much to go to that trouble finding them for you, and probably keeping them a secret for months.

Coffeeandgranola · 04/01/2024 15:00

Not quite a Christmas present, technically, but my DP got me the Fortnum & Mason beauty advent calendar for the start of December and it was brilliant

Natsku · 04/01/2024 15:17

A down duvet - its so warm! I used to have to use two duvets and still feel cold but now I just have the one and feel lovely and warm.

I’ve seen this kind of thing advertised on instagram and been tempted - but how do you transfer/extract the acorn once it’s sprouted? Do you need to break the vase?
