Where do you hide your gifts?

It's getting increasingly difficult each year to keep the gifts hidden.

Last year was a disaster when we put everything up the loft but it frosted over and when it melted water dripped ok everything 😅... this year they are locked in the ensuite toilet in the spare bedroom.

My parents were not exactly djscreet and a massive pile at the bottom of their bed covered with a sheet was about the extent of their ingenuity!

One box hiding in plain sight in our dressing room. Just in it's cardboard box it was delivered in.

The rest we have a cubby hole in the spare bedroom that noone knows is there. The shelf comes off so I put everything in there. I'm going to try and keep it a secret place for as long as I can!

ThelmaBorden · 30/11/2023 17:32

in the base of our huge Ali Baba wash basket - Ican 100%assure you I am the only one who ever delves in there -

WolfFoxHare · 30/11/2023 17:34

Ours are in cardboard moving boxes in the study. DS’s are at the back of the stack so he’d find it hard to have a swift crafty peek as he’d have to move other boxes.

EdithStourton · 30/11/2023 17:34

They are now adults, but the best spot used to be the back of an understairs cupboard. I don't think any of them ever looked...

Takeitonthechin · 30/11/2023 17:37

Could you put them in the garage or outside shed

cocktailanddreams · 30/11/2023 17:46

In a big box labelled 'years supply of broccoli' Grin

Footprintsinthesand · 30/11/2023 18:20

In our ottoman bed. It's so heavy no child would be able to open it even if they guessed. Although I have accidentally squashed a few things and buzz lightyear keeps talking when I close it so may need to rethink!

slipperypenguin · 30/11/2023 20:03

😂 talking buzz light year under the bed

Some interesting suggestions. When so was young my older brother convinced us to search for the presents (as I said in nu OP it wasn't much a hunt!)!and we even unopened and played a new game for our N64. The panic we had getting it back into the box and hidden again When my mum walked in the house 😅

I pull the drawers out from under the base of our divan bed and stash things in the void area. Anything too big to fit in goes into the understair cupboard which is huge (too huge, it's like a black hole sucking all matter into it, never to be seen again so only the biggest items go there).

jocktamsonsbairn · 30/11/2023 20:21

I've always kept them in the holiday suitcases which I lock and hide the wee keys in my knicker drawer! No chance of them ever going in there! Now they are in their early 20s I just have them in my wardrobe - if they want to snoop they can although they have chosen or even bought (with their discounts) half of it! 😂

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 30/11/2023 20:34

I take them to my parents'

EcoCustard · 30/11/2023 22:14

We did have an unused chest freezer in the garage that I stored all the DC’s presents in, it worked well last year and this year until we turned it on. There now in a box behind the tent.

longtompot · 30/11/2023 22:15

Various drawers and an unused suitcase under my bed. Mine are early/mid 20s now so if they want to ruin things it's up to them.

SleepPrettyDarling · 30/11/2023 22:18

In a big suitcase which lives in the back of the wardrobe year-round.

Bouncyball23 · 30/11/2023 22:27

Smaller one in suitcases then under my bed, bigger ones in plain site kids don't even pay attention to them currently got 4 big parcels sat under the stairs have been there weeks.

ViolaSmart · 30/11/2023 22:35

In suitcases under our bed. Kids are late teens and I still like to keep them hidden!

grayhairdontcare · 30/11/2023 22:38

Everything is wrapped when bought and then goes under the tree when it's put up in the first weekend of December

bevelino · 30/11/2023 22:40

Cadno31 · 30/11/2023 17:28

Everything gets kept in my mum's spare room. She only lives in the street behind me so I pop in with stuff as and when. And then I do the wrapping while I pop in for a cuppa. They'd be found in my house in a minute!

That’s exactly what I used to do when my 4 dds were young. All presents stored at my parents house as dds would have found them in 5 minutes.

shsh6 · 30/11/2023 22:46

Walk in wardrobe, hidden by clothes. Used to put in the loft but it was a pain getting them down discreetly.

Mustbethemulledwine · 30/11/2023 22:50

Inside boxes in my bedroom. I've done it like this for years. Kids have never found any of the gifts or gone snooping. Boxes are boring. The oldest is almost 13.

Mindovermatter247 · 30/11/2023 22:52

My sisters room is in the roof, she has the eaves and a boiler cupboard, they get stored up there, sometimes under my mums bed too 😁

mumda · 30/11/2023 23:08

Wrapped ina drawer. Nothing huge this year though.

TokyoSushi · 30/11/2023 23:10

Also in plain sight, loads of boxes in my office, nobody seems to notice!

mumstheword1982 · 30/11/2023 23:10

We also have an ottoman bed that our kids don't know about!

HarrietSchulenberg · 30/11/2023 23:14

I don't have much space so when the children were little everything went in or on the wardrobes or in the boot of the car.
When I was little my parents hid everything in the spare bedroom that I was already banned from, and in the case of the grandfather clock which locked. Its key mysteriously disappeared every December until I was about 10.
