Charity gift - 15 YO girl

Can anyone with a 15 yr old daughter/niece/sd/granddaughter please help with some ideas for what to buy? I have picked an envelope from the giving tree in our local shopping centre and really want to get the young girl a good gift but am struggling as I have no idea what she likes or her sizes so has to be quite general. I was going to get some toiletry bits and a hat/scarf set but not sure if that’s a bit predictable and thoughtless. I’d really like to get her something good as she is obviously from a poor background and may not get much else but I’m a bit out of touch with what’s cool these days. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

How about a lush body spray? The 15 year old I spoke to recently wanted this. My friends and I also loved bath bombs at that age. A lovely scented candle? Also lots of food snacky bits. I loved receiving chocolates as I would look forward to eating them where a scarf and hat I wouldn't look forward to wearing, it would be more practical.

WrongSwanson · 26/11/2023 23:28

I don't know how many teens wear hats -ours all refuse to even wear coats!

How about lovely fluffy socks (a hit with both my girls); sleep mask/make up headband; nice pens and stationery;

Barbiegirl2013 · 27/11/2023 23:26

Perfect thank you for all your responses these are all taken on board 😊 I will change hat and scarf for fluffy socks and chocolates!

Definitely not a hat and scarf because she'll get those donated to charity anyway

Get special stuff like perfume and make up

Superdrug are great for Revolution make up and have offers on perfume right now

Not fluffy socks and chocolates.

She needs something decent because she's on a giving tree so needs normal teen stuff.

Maybe chuck in some regular tampons too

Or these

I'd go for The Everything make up starter kit

Theoldwoman · 28/11/2023 01:35

A nice hardcover journal, stickers, some nice gel pens.

She's 15

Not 8

Oriunda · 28/11/2023 01:48

Not candles. Not sure if she’s in a home or refuge, but I’ve done similar schemes and candles aren’t allowed.

I’m getting a gift card for the teen boy I’m buying for this year.

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 28/11/2023 01:50

The make-up starter kit by revolution is a great shout. I've no idea on your budget, but other hits for that age.

Victoria secrets body spray
lush bath stuff
so body sprays
face masks
eye sleep mask
costa gift card
skincare -again budget dependent but drunk elephant seems to be widely liked. (But isn't cheap).

And?

My 20 and 22 year old still journal regularly.

I never know how these things work in terms of if the gifts are given blindly or if the parent or project worker gets to pick out something specific they know the child will like.

What about a game? The teenage girl in my life has enjoyed Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and Dobble, recently. Took them on a hobby residential trip and they played them every night.

Or maybe a nice fluffy blanket or an oodie type thing. Nail varnish, nail art kit or manicure kits might be nice too.

Please don't give sanitary care. Can you imagine not receiving anything else at Christmas and the one gift that you open in front of family/emergency Foster care/women's refuge being tampons.

DuckDuckGoose23 · 28/11/2023 02:56

I’m guessing the budget is less than £30. I’d go for:

Then add a Lindt chocolate reindeer or chocolate coins and some M&S fizzy sweets (I think they do festive Percy Pigs).
caringcarer · 28/11/2023 02:58

It will probably be the only gift she will get. I think I'd gift an Amazon voucher so she can choose what she would like. Most 15 year old girls like clothes and if her parents can't buy for her she might like to choose herself something nice. It's her prom year in the summer so maybe she'd want to get a dress she can wear to her prom. Perfume, and makeup would probably be appreciated.

reluctantbrit · 28/11/2023 07:58

Depends on your budget (or suggested budget).

They have so different tastes, lots of things mentioned on these threads are of no interest for my DD and I would guess, what she is asking for is too exotic for others.

Normally teens are loving fluffy blankets and primark does nice ones for not a lot of money.
Then a Boots voucher.

Amazon is tricky if they can't have access to the internet easily and struggle to get things delivered or access a pick up location.

shash1982 · 28/11/2023 20:00

Victoria secret body spray
New pyjamas
A book

SophiaLaB · 28/11/2023 20:04

An Oodie, fluffy blanket, heated throw, the teens here love soft and cuddly.

Lovemusic82 · 28/11/2023 20:09

I have teen girls that would not like make up or girly things, they would be disappointed with tampons (they don’t use them) 🙄.

Can’t go wrong with Lush items, both my DD’s like the body sprays and bath bombs even though they are not really into beauty products. Anything soft, fluffy and/or warm is always popular, a gift card for costa or Greg’s or a boots/Superdrug gift card?

MermaidEyes · 28/11/2023 20:12

I have a teen that age and I second things like make up, fluffy blanket and socks, coffee shop gift card, skincare or face masks, mug, nice chocolates, perfume. Depending on your budget if you shop in places like Primark and B&M you will get many more gifts for your money for her to open.

flowerchild2000 · 28/11/2023 20:30

Journals with cute pens/stamps/etc. has been a big hit with my teenage girls. Anything skincare, makeup, masks, and good smelling things. I would go with basics for the makeup and skincare. Mine are both really into nails as well.

My two teen girls are obsessed with fluffy socks!

Tampons would be not a gift at all. I'd be really upset to unwrap them as a Christmas present even at the stage I was so broke I was skipping meals

Barbiegirl2013 · 28/11/2023 23:45

Thank you all for the comments! Really interesting feedback and all highlighting my worry about not knowing their individual likes/dislikes. I think a cosy blanket and chocolates/sweets is a good idea plus a gift voucher for Costa or something similar would be good. I wouldn’t have thought of those so thank you very much for all your help 😊
