Gift ideas around £10 for couples / female relatives

£10-15 may sound really stingy but I'm wondering if I can do a £10 token gift but still something nice for cousins and nieces.

Ideas

Hand cream
hand wash
candle
chocolates
biscuits
sweets
nail polish

most of them wouldn't appreciate wine or alcohol

Any other ideas?

Socks (fluffy ones or nice print)

Little card game or travel game (uno, dobble, task master, 5 second rule etc)

Candle

novelty case for airpods

silly gifts from tiger store

Q&A book (they do ones for couples and new mums etc) where you answers a question a day and can look back at your answers

Notepad and pens

A plant (a cactus, Venus fly trap, etc)

christmaspudding43 · 20/11/2023 08:00

A plant would be nice, or a smaller size of something nice - olive oil, luxury bath stuff etc. I'd resist the urge to get lots of small things to make it 'look more' and just get one nice thing with the money.

Just spotted it's actually only PU Leather. Though I suppose that's a bonus if any recipients are vegans!

Reallyontherocks · 20/11/2023 22:27

I like the idea of a plant

socks could work

notebook and pen was an idea for the nieces but haven't seen one I like

Scarfs/hats/gloves
socks
Books
Purses/bags

idontlikealdi · 20/11/2023 22:45

I'd Jack it in tbh, £10 doesn't get much anymore

Fatlittlefruits · 20/11/2023 23:46

A plant is a good idea.

If I had c£10 budget per person - I would buy these notebooks - really great quality and on offer. If you you buy 4 blue and/or yellow ones, would be under £8 each.

If I was near an M&S - I'd throw in some festive percy pigs ('Merry Percymas') each at £2 for the £10 budget. I'd be tempted to go slightly over budget by adding some M&S Milk Chocolate gold coins at £1.25 -M&S ones are good and most people like a little unexpected chocolate.

I have just purchased two presents for two ladies. One present was a telescopic folding handbag umbrella which was £9.99 the other was a pillow spray you spray it on your pillow and it helps you get to sleep this was six pounds 95

hattie43 · 21/11/2023 05:44

Maybe foodie gifts . M & S do some lovely things , I've bought some Belgian chocolate biscuits and some salt caramel chocolate pine cones to pad out other presents but would be well received on their own I'm sure .

I kind of think this too. I might just give a box of nice biscuits or chocolates with a Christmas card and not worry about anything more. If I'm being honest I don't want to spend the money

@Fatlittlefruits I like those notebooks and the idea of the M&S extras. I like M&S anyway so I'm thinking of getting any chocolates or biscuits from there.

@hattie43 Yes I am thinking this is better than buying cheap tat no one wants! I don't want the cheap tat either.

I have never had panettone and never gifted it. Do most people like it? @Summertime2 I know it's possible at Christmas.

OMGitsnotgood · 22/11/2023 15:37

£10 can buy a perfectly lovely non-tat gift IMO.

I'd love a Panetonne. - great idea. TKMaxx/Homesense usually have them in tins/boxes.

I love Poinsettia and buy one for myself every Christmas, but would welcome more for other rooms.

I don't write letters these days but do send notelets to thank people for gifts/hospitality etc Note cards / notelets are a lovely gift. Again, TK Maxx, or garden centres or Etsy.

I know you said most wouldn't appreciate alcohol but just in case of interest to anyone. Baileys is £10 in Asda at the moment,

Flibbertygibbetty · 22/11/2023 15:42

Yes panatonne is delicious and looks fab as gift. House plants, nice pots, succulents, cactus collection all popular.
or if don’t want to spend make everyone giant florentine with good quality melted choc in circle on grease proof, scatter on colourful extras like glacé cherries, pistachios, dried cranberries, nuts, sultanas, marshmallows whatever. Chill and wrap in pretty reused paper and ribbon for each person. We’re all going more towards this here. Hugely cutting out the waste. Such a relief.

Gruelle · 22/11/2023 16:24

I would honestly just stick to tea and biscuits. The Fortnum's website seems to be glitching at the moment but if you can get into it later they have plenty of tins and packets that would make lovely luxurious gifts.

I can’t think of much else I’d want as a gift that costs less than £10. Hats and gloves and notebooks and toiletries that I’d actually enjoy using would all cost more than that - but nice thick chocolate biscuits are always welcome.

purser25 · 22/11/2023 16:36

An. Amaryllis is always nice £3.99 in Aldi between £5 and £6 elsewhere always popular

Footprintsinthesand · 22/11/2023 16:40

You can get some nice Dipping bowls/serving boards for about that amount

Reallyontherocks · 22/11/2023 21:46

Sorry missed your post @Ladyof2022

You've reminded me my DH wanted a black umbrella!

@Gruelle I kind of think the same but then also can usually make use of hand cream, hand wash and lipbalm

I am now thinking hand soap (bought from Costco), nails Inc nail polish (I bought some in crackers) and some M&S chocolates or biscuits will come in under budget for 4/5 of them and make a reasonable gift?

suspiciousmums · 22/11/2023 21:47

Travel size Rummikub- haven’t met anyone yet who’s played it and not loved it!

Reallyontherocks · 22/11/2023 22:29

I do like those @Britneyfan !

not sure how I missed those also

@suspiciousmums They wouldn't appreciate games but sounds fun to me!

OP posts:
Reallyontherocks · 22/11/2023 22:31

@Britneyfan Most of the letters are not available including one of the two I would have bought one for

OP posts:
Reallyontherocks · 22/11/2023 22:32
