Gift ideas around £10 for couples / female relatives

£10-15 may sound really stingy but I'm wondering if I can do a £10 token gift but still something nice for cousins and nieces.

Ideas

Hand cream
hand wash
candle
chocolates
biscuits
sweets
nail polish

most of them wouldn't appreciate wine or alcohol

Any other ideas?

Puzzle post has its envelope games for around £14 in its sale. I’d get one of those for couples.

I'd Jack it in tbh, £10 doesn't get much anymore

This! Unless you know there’s something they’d really like for that amount then it feels like you’re just buying something for the sake of buying things. Other than socks, there’s not one thing on this thread so far that I’d be particularly enthusiastic to receive! I’d rather the OP donated £50 to charity than bought a load of stuff people probably need or want.

SisSuffragette · 23/11/2023 07:57

I'd actually be really happy with most of these gifts but as a pp has mentioned I'd be pleased if someone donated a tenner to my local foodbank onto behalf.

Just came here to say Puzzle Post! I was just looking at it and I'm planning to buy a few for couple's gifts and secret santa. They're discounted for Black Friday at the moment too. Lots of escape room type games - https://www.puzzlepost.com/

Reallyontherocks · 24/11/2023 19:26

I do agree in a way about buying things for the sake of it.

If I'm being honest it is when I'm giving out of a sense of obligation that I look at limiting the cost this way and I think I shouldn't bother so I have agreed to gift a few relatives what I said above and then I am not going to give something extra to a couple of nieces as I don't want stuff I don't need and I don't want to spend money I don't need to spend.

You can plant a tree on their behalf for £10. They get a card with a code and can see what type of tree and its location. Very cool.

Reallyontherocks · 24/11/2023 20:05

I think they are not the type to appreciate a charity donation or plant a tree.

Aldi had Amaryllis sets bulb compost ceramic pot £3.99. You get the enjoyment then when it’s finished no clutter unless you keep the pot

Popped into TkMaxx today which had lots of gifts around the £10 mark.

Cheeseboard with knife
Muffin maker
Fancy placemats
Food gifts
Handwash/Handcream set in a ceramic dish
Photo frames
Novelty gifts like Star Wars mug or mini loudspeaker and electronic drumsticks ( I really hope someone gets them for me 😆)

Lovely idea for my extremely-hard-to-please relative. Even she will like that.
Thanks for the idea!

Biscuits or chocolate covered coffee beans/nuts from Fortnum and Mason.

QueenOfMOHO · 25/11/2023 08:54

Well you say most of them wouldn't appreciate alcohol but for the ones who would, what about a little bottle of Chambord black raspberry liqueur? It's the most delicious thing I've ever had, a spoonful totally transforms a gin and tonic or a Chambord bramble cocktail.
The glass bottle is just a gorgeous little bejewelled orb, I cant even throw them away. To top it all, it comes in a golden box and it's £6.50 in sainsburys.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/11/2023 08:58

Sounds like it’s time to stop buying tbh.

iIf you really feel you have to, I’d go for some cheese/chutney from a local indie shop, or a plant or chocolates from a local indie.

Quitelikeacatslife · 25/11/2023 09:01

Oliver Bonas great for classy little gifts in this price range , they have lots of alphabet wash bags etc nice purses, hair clips etc

Great idea; love Chambord, especially at Christmas.

That or chocolates or cheese. No tat, please.

Laughed when I saw the notebook and pen idea, whilst nice, it reminded me as a pre teen of receiving 5 set of diaries and notebooks from my relatives.

And not having a huge family, that was just about it that Christmas for me.

Nail wraps were being discussed on another thread . They look fab.
I'll find a link.

Furry hot water bottle. I love mine. 🌹

ciderhouserules · 25/11/2023 11:05

I know you said they wouldn't appreciate 'charity' gifts but I looked at myFahlo.com this morning and bought 6 bracelets, each with a different endangered animal featured. the bracelets are beautiful and you can track your animal. Only £9 each.

BeaLola · 25/11/2023 12:12

Yoshi gods has their BF sale on and has purses and travel card holders, glasses case within your budget - they have free P&P too

MyCatIsPlotting · 25/11/2023 12:14

Potted spring bulbs, maybe, something like hyacinth or narcissus for indoors - or even outdoor bulbs for spring if you have any larger plastic tubs around?

londonmummy1966 · 25/11/2023 12:59

Whistlefish do nice notelets in pretty tins - usually £7 but at the moment buy two for £10. The tins are really useful afterwards. Inevitably the nicest is out of stock but still plenty to choose from.

I often buy a Christmas decoration for younger members of this gift category - it means that they'll have some decorations when they leave home.
