White Christmas tree lights v multi colour Christmas tree lights

Usually a dividing topic in real life.

I know some whom prefer the classic simple white only lights and some whom prefer multi colour.

We are multicolour. Preferably with pink mixed in.

I always used to go white but the last couple of years we've had multi coloured and it feels so much more fun. Reminds me of Christmas with my Grandpops 😍

noodlezoodle · 14/11/2023 21:44

Multi-coloured and a bizarre bunch of tree decorations that in no way match. It's much more fun than when I used to have white lights and tastefully coordinated baubles.

Kitkat1523 · 14/11/2023 21:47

Multi colour ….i said when they broke ( I had had them years) , I would get warm white …..I got the shop but just couldn’t do it..,came home with multi colour

lancaster · 14/11/2023 21:48

Multicolour for the tree. White is just too boring, I can't do it.

TomAllensWhiskMic · 14/11/2023 21:49

We have multicoloured non-LED lights. They remind me of my childhood tree lights from the 70s.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/11/2023 21:50

Multicoloured, but they must not be the really bright, blinding LED ones, and no flashing or pulsing effects.
I need new ones so if anyone knows where I can get less bright lights , on green wire, I would be grateful !

DanceMumTaxi · 14/11/2023 21:51

I have two big trees. One has warm white the other multicoloured. Best of both.

idontlikealdi · 14/11/2023 21:51

As
Multi coloured as we can get and outside too!

We have multi coloured and white on the tree, not the bright neon colours, the traditional ones (hard to find last time I tried to replace) and warm white everywhere else

Edited

I desperately want the old-fashioned twinkly coloured ones, but haven't been able to find them anywhere! We have modern coloured ones but they're not the same. The colours are so harsh compared to the ones I remember from childhood.

Thehonestybox · 14/11/2023 21:53

I put both sets on the tree, and then pick and choose which set I turn on each day

Daffyyellow · 14/11/2023 21:57

I like warm white, or red, or multicoloured lights! We usually have warm white and red on the same tree and just turn on whichever we fancy.

Oldraver · 14/11/2023 22:03

Multi coloured on the three and a mixture of white or some multicoloured elsewhere

Outsider lights I have both, multicoloured string lights and just ordered a new set of warm white icicle

ABCXYZ17 · 14/11/2023 22:05

I have warm white but have lovely memories of multi coloured lights from my childhood, might but some this year and switch it up!

peachgreen · 14/11/2023 22:07

I have one tasteful gold and silver tree with warm white lights which I have in my bedroom. But the main tree is a gorgeous riot of colour so multicoloured all the way.

TudorBeckham · 14/11/2023 22:08

I have warm white but have a secret hankering for multi-coloured.

theduchessofspork · 14/11/2023 22:11

The only proper Christmas tree is a 70s/80s multicoloured ball extravaganza.

But for lights I am quite happy with your simple warm lantern light vibe

SgtJuneAckland · 14/11/2023 21:59

@sprigatito I went for these in the end, I have a warm white set I use in addition because these were quite spendy for tree lights!

Aldi have these, and also the ones that look like bells. I absolutely love them! Proper 80s/90s vibes.

Multicolour on the tree but white everywhere else!

Agreed

FirstFallopians · 14/11/2023 22:16

I swear that you are either a White alight Person or Multi Colour Light Person and you are destined to marry someone who is the “other”.

DH loves the brash multicoloured ones, I love the glow from the warm white.

We have the “Classy Tree” in the living room, which can be seen from the street and is decorated with the white lights and spendy decorations.

Then in the kitchen we have the “Tacky Tree” which has all the colours, massive Cable and Cotton rainbow coloured lights, Disney and Harry Potter decorations from Primark/ McDonalds Happy Meals and stuff the kids have made at school. I won’t tell DH but I actually prefer Tacky Tree…

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 14/11/2023 22:18

I like both 😊 I have a tree decorated in shades of white, cream, green, gold and silver and wooden ornaments, and that has white lights. And I have another smaller tree with multicoloured baubles and lights and I love them both! If I could have only one though…I’d choose white. But only warm white!

Bugger! I've spent a fortune on the Noma LED ones to replace my proper 1970s originals. They're OK but you need a lot more of the LED ones because they're dimmer than the originals.
I may have a look at the Aldi ones as extras.

ColouringPencils · 14/11/2023 22:21

Another who has been warm white my whole adult life, but is now craving the soft multicoloured lights of my childhood. Looking at the Aldi ones above but wondering if they may be too harsh?

Runnerinthenight · 14/11/2023 22:25

I love cool white. The more the merrier, as many as we can fit on the tree!!

I have a green tree that gets decorated in all-white decorations. I have a white tree with teal and brown decorations to match my colour scheme. I have a 'traditional' tree that has all the decorations I've collected in over 30 years, lots of reds and greens. Then I have a small tree, that's red and silver decorations primarily. And garlands on the stairs. A wreath on the front door...
