White Christmas tree lights v multi colour Christmas tree lights

Usually a dividing topic in real life.

I know some whom prefer the classic simple white only lights and some whom prefer multi colour.

We are multicolour. Preferably with pink mixed in.

Multi coloured in the dining / play room, white on the big tree in the lounge.

We've had warm white since I've been an adult with my own home/tree.
I think rebelling against the memories of my childhood tree with multicolour lights and mismatched baubles (even though I adored it as a child)
But last year (and again this year) I am heavily toying with the idea of ditching my current 'tasteful' white lights and going full 90's multicolour fabulousness. Haven't made my mind up yet 😂

Christmas is inherently not tasteful, so I think full blown multicoloured tackiness is the way to go 😂 White or shades of white smack of trying too hard and a lack of imagination ;)

It seems that I am in the minority here, but white all the way! We are of German descent where it is tradition to have candles on the tree. That's too much faff for me as you've obviously got to watch the tree closely when the candles are lit, so I have white lights to mimic the effect. I personally can't stand multicolour (blue especially!) - it just looks far too tacky for me. But each to their own and as I say I'm clearly in the minority here!

Multi coloured.
The gaudy the tree the better!
All one colour, especially white, makes a tree look like a corporate Christmas one that you see in a bank or insurance office!

I had white for years but I agree that multicoloured is more festive, I think because it evokes childhood. I bought some of those more pastel-y coloured LEDs though they still don't quite match the effect of 1980s filament bulbs

@sprigatito I went for these in the end, I have a warm white set I use in addition because these were quite spendy for tree lights!

I've got from this company too. I like that they have pink and orange as well as red, green and blue

I'm glad someone is discussing the big problems!

I'm going through a warm white phase while I'm still cool and serious, but I can tell when I have kids I'm going to be ALL IN on multicolored. So much more fun
😄

Our trees have warm white in the main reception rooms but our favourite tree is in the snug which has 1970’s Cinderella carriage lights that are multicoloured and fabulous! It’s a nod to my childhood and is also decorated with beautiful vintage mercury baubles.
Mum and dad bought the lights in 1975, the year they were married and I grew up with them being on the tree every Christmas.

@Happyface120 they are these ones from Amazon but I have only just got them so can't vouch for their quality or longevity but at least you know they are out there to start looking.

There are lots of just single colours light sets (ie all red etc) which include white but I wanted to be able to do "multi" as well but considering how many single colours it offers, the multi coloured is not so varied so you might want to pay attention to that.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09XMSGZR7

Interestingly when I linked the above those the photos are different so it looks like that is a different product to the one I bought. Mine has a remote with all the single colour options on it whereas that one does not but I took that link directly from my Amazon bought list. It is the same brand though. So that literally does multi or white. On that above link if you scroll all the way down to where it shows comparable options, the one on the far right is mine but that also links to the one above too so clearly not available any more.

On the main tree - warm white/ gold lights ony.
On little tree is different room- children’s homemade decorations - colourful, retro style lights with pink, orange, soft green etc.
No harsh red/ blue led type lights, I don’t like them

Where did you get your retro lights from? I like the multicoloured ones but hate the emergency services coloured ones, which is all they seem to sell, so we always have warm white
