When is your Christmas tree going up?

Normally put mine up around the 4th of December. This year I have a 5 month old and I'm just so excited for her to see the lights that I'm considering putting it up next week!

When will your tree be going up?

Its never going up because I have a small house despite being a three bed and there is literally nowhere to put it. i suppose I could get one of those pencil trees but I think they look a bit weird.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/11/2023 14:41

Suggestions welcome.

bonkersAlice · 14/11/2023 14:45

First week of December usually but not sure this year.

RabbitsRock · 14/11/2023 14:47

Usually buy it & decorate it on my birthday which is in early December

HipHouse · 14/11/2023 14:48

Next weekend I reckon🤩
It’s our dd 1st Christmas and our 1st Christmas in our new house so it’s going up early. Our dd is really excited about it too

Hohoholymoley · 14/11/2023 14:50

Last week in November, it has to be up for the toy show.

DaizenShine · 14/11/2023 15:28

@Gettingbysomehow I know the pain! I am in a one bedroom, and this tree gets forced into the corner! Luckily I am able to store my tree and decorations in my Dads loft all year round.

Have you seen the tree wall thing for small spaces? Amazon have a Christmas wall trig tree which looks fab, or b&q have a wall silhouette! Worth checking out.

4th December. 3 weeks today. Me and DH have a few days off that week, so thought we would take the opportunity to put the tree up and the decorations and the 100s of lights we have got (to put outside on the trees and bushes and around the house!) Grin

@caringcarer sounds lovely. I hope you all have a great time, enjoy cooking!

16th this year as we’re having a party that night.

I used to be really snooty about fake trees, but they have got so good, I’m a little tempted. We have 2 trees, one in the kitchen and one in the sitting room. The sitting room one is always fried by the wood burner, so if I find a really good fake - I might go for it. My family will be very huffy though 😬

Christmas tree goes up at Christmas because it is a Christmas tree

Giggorata · 14/11/2023 16:06

Up on Xmas Eve and down on Twelfth Night.
Earlier when the DC were younger, but then putting it up and decorating it became their job when they came up from London, usually on Xmas Eve.

Now there's just DH and me, we will either go to DC or have a quiet time at home, and we can't be very arsed. We even bought an artificial pre lit tree
( ashamed😔)

Wanttobeok · 14/11/2023 16:08

Real-time, usually get it around 2 weeks before Xmas but this year we are away Christmas week so will get it a week earlier

EducatingArti · 14/11/2023 16:11

Not for ages! It isn't even Advent yet!

HanSB · 14/11/2023 16:22

I think if we didn't get a real one we would put it up in the first week of December but we don't have the space to store one so we get a real one around a week before Christmas.

Bournetilly · 14/11/2023 16:24

First weekend of December

muddyford · 14/11/2023 16:25

Mid-December.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 14/11/2023 16:25

Mid December. 10th at the earliest.

MrsKeats · 14/11/2023 16:26

Week before Christmas

Fluffyc1ouds · 14/11/2023 16:53

We usually go for early/mid December. This year I expect we'll get the tree on 9th Dec but we're away for Christmas so we'll just get a small tree.

PauliesWalnuts · 14/11/2023 16:57

Up the Saturday before Xmas Day and down on NYE. Without sounding like the Grinch I don't have any relatives left (we don't do longevity well in our family) although I do have an auntie who's not a real auntie, and although I don't get lonely Xmas is the time I really miss them and really struggle with it.

So I put it up for the bare minimum so that my neighbours don't think I'm a Mormon!

Sunday 17th December.

When does Christmas start for you?

NarrowGate · 14/11/2023 16:59

In London the ‘Christmas’ lights go up for Diwali and come down again at the end of January after Lunar New Year, when the days are already longer. It’s a brilliant idea and makes everything prettier for the winter.

My own tree goes up Advent Sunday.
