I'd love to treat myself to one or two scented candles for Christmas. Any recommendations for lovely ones with a strong scent for £30 or less?

The most delicious and beautiful winter candle I buy is called Woodlands by a Scottish company called Druid Candles. It's juniper, eucalyptus and fir needle and it's like being in a crispy winter forest. I'm a bit obsessed with it, as I hunted for my perfect winter candle for years! It's about £20.

I actually love the home bargains gingerbread one!

Absolutely! I've been buying these for years, they fill my largish hone with the most wonderful festive scent. Cheap as hops too.

The Plum and Ashby ones are lovely. Especially Cedar Wood and Pine Needles. They do sets of three mini ones which are gorgeous. The only I personally don't like is fireside embers, it just smells like smoke to me. Which I know is kind of the point but to me it smells more like someone has chain smoked in here rather than a roaring fire.

Also I know it's not what you asked but I got some Zoflora Kitchen Spray from B and M in Winter Spice and it smells really lovely and Christmassy.

For Christmas I always like the M&S Mandarin, Clove and Cinnamon one. Smells very Christmassy without being sickly or overpowering, and very reasonably priced.

Thanks everyone, I've thoroughly enjoyed looking up all the suggestions. Now to make a choice ...

I bought a gorgeous strong smelling candle in ASDA earlier today for only £1

It was tantalisingly at the checkout and smelled so lovely and strong I bought 2

It was called 'spiced berries'

I've just mentioned this Druid Edinburgh candle on another thread! I LOVE it. I'm waiting for my new one to arrive in the post. It's perfect for Christmas.

I love dytipqie but they’ve gone too much in price :(

ithinkicanithinkican · 22/11/2023 23:29

@LyndaSnellsSniff Nice to meet another Woodlands devotee 😊

Another vote for SpaceNK shimmering spice! The best Xmas candle 😍

SKANDINAVISK Skog Forest scented candle is my absolute must have Christmas candle. It’s on offer at the moment at John Lewis and the 200g comes in just under £30

I love Leo & Lyn candles, they're handmade here in NI. I bought this limited edition Christmas Tree one at an artisan market thing back in October. I haven't actually lit it yet, I'm saving it for December, but it smells beautiful in the box 😄

St Eval are also lovely.

Not a candle but I got the bargain Yankee Candle wax burner from Boots last week and the melts I got with it are all really nice. So far I've tried Magical Bright Lights, The Night Before Christmas and Glistening Christmas and I like them all; the melts give off a really strong scent.

Not yet, I want to but I don't know if my bank account can cope!

Does anyone know if I can use The White Company oils in a portable Neom diffuser (the type where the oil isn’t diluted with water)? I’ve used M&S fragrance oils okay but wasn’t sure if TWC were more or less oily iyswim.

Nagado · 24/11/2023 17:34

Fraser Fir by Woodwick. It smells like Christmas trees and the wick crackles like a log fire. It’s beautiful.

doodles55 · 24/11/2023 20:28

No harm to wood wick crackling candles , but I had to put it out in the hall … the racket from it !! my ears my ears … visitors were asking about the noise !!

ithinkicanithinkican · 24/11/2023 22:55

I agree - I bought one and found the crackling sound really annoying! I think I might be a bit misophonic though.
