I need bike experts please! Ds almost 5 had decided its top of his wish list 😬 The specs are it needs stabilisers, and 16" judging by his height (skinny giant). Me and dp don't know squat about bikes, how important brand is, etc. Does anyone have recommendations? They all look pretty pricey!

We have a kids charity shop round the corner that has some from time to time, and second hand isn't an issue for us, but I've no idea what I'm looking for, or if they'll get one the right size before Christmas...

I was really trying to scale down this year as last year was overwhelming for them, but it looks like that's going out of the window...

I’d recommend frog bikes. They aren’t cheap but seems like plenty get sold in second hand. They’re lightweight and we found DD learnt to ride it without stabilisers on her first go. She’d had a cheaper heavier bike before and just couldn’t get the hang of it.

Thanks @crikeyisthatthetimez that would have made a good backup if I couldn't get a personalised thing. @OnionBag has saved the day though, Elf sash ordered and will be dispatched in a few days 😁 Thanks so much.

Very seem to have good deals on Garmin fitness trackers and I need to replace my Fitbit. Any recommendations? The Forerunner 45s and Venu sq 2 look like good deals.

Is there a minimum spend for the free delivery for Debenhams ?

bizzey · 09/11/2023 20:57

With the code FREEDEL ?

Yalz · 09/11/2023 20:57

I have just bought 4 YC Wax Melt warmers for £10 (£9 with discount) at Boots. I added other bits including half price toothpaste and vitamin D tablets to reach a total of just under £28.

With the 10% discount code NEWAPP10 which @psuedocream3 gave us, this brought the total down to just over £25 so I got free delivery.

I have the venu and love it. I have small wrists and it is at the top end of what I deem acceptable in size.

Anyone recommend a good priced starter set of play doh? For a toddler

No - but it defaults to the £2.99 paid standard delivery. On the desktop site, the delivery options are detailed on the left of the screen. Scroll down through the options: the free delivery options are mixed in between the paid delivery options. You can selected free express or free next day if ordered by 10pm.

bizzey · 09/11/2023 21:10

Thanks .
I will try again with the laptop.

bizzey · 09/11/2023 21:14

Can anyone suggest the best place to buy (cheaper) sylvanian families thing?

Dd wants some characters and sets and the prices for what they actually are are eye watering.

Try Aldi, I have seen them in there recently

nickdrakeslovechild · 09/11/2023 21:19

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 09/11/2023 17:15

Can anyone suggest where I might get a personalised sash for our elf? (on the shelf).
Ds always complains that Christmas overshadows his birthday so thought having the elf show up in a birthday sash might help 💁‍♀️
Thought Etsy would be swimming in such things but I can't find any!

They do A Birthday Tradition for the official Elf on the shelf. I got it for my DD who is also a Christmas baby. It comes with a book and a cake outfit.

@Holdyournoseandthinkofchocolate He can't quite grasp the peddles on a trike so the stabilisers are definitely needed! He's also the type of child to have freak accidents requiring non emergency surgery 😅

I’d also echo recommendations of Frog, Hoy & Squish bikes. We’ve had a few of the former 2, they are lightweight and brakes etc kid sized. Join local bike sales Facebook groups to see adverts and you can also ask if anyone is selling.

Also, try to avoid stabilisers as they don’t really help and can cause the bike to tip when going round corners or catching on uneven pavements.
We had success with lowering the saddle and remove pedals so they can use as a balance bike. When more confident, raise saddle to appropriate height, put pedals back on and they'll be off! It will happen - we had one who couldn’t work out how to turn pedals at all but does long bike rides now.
