Søstrene Grene

I've been getting lots of adverts on FB for Søstrene Grene and thought it was all a bit too good to be true. But I realised we had a store in the nearest city so went today and oh my goodness I was in Christmas heaven.
So many decorations, crafty stuff, baking stuff, wrapping papers, candles and food.
I had the best hour I've had in a long time today and now have a winter themed living room without too much moaning from the bah humbugs I live with.
I know it sounds like I work for them or something but I promise you I don't, it was just so lovely I felt I should share it with any like minded Christmas fiends.

Thanks @SprinkleOfSunak but when I put my postcode in it says if can't find my location.

SprinkleOfSunak · 04/11/2023 19:54

@RaraRachael

That sounds odd. Have you tried typing in your full address instead? It accepts full addresses too I believe.

Just back from Amsterdam where they were everywhere! Me and Dd had a ball, and it gave dh and her bf time to bond over their mutual dislike.😏

MissCherryCakeyBun · 04/11/2023 20:34

I literally drove 90 minutes to go to one and 90 minutes back they are amazing

MissCherryCakeyBun · 04/11/2023 20:37

@APurpleSquirrel the nearest is Newbury Confused however I understand they are considering Bristol but still a ballache to get too.

I love this shop so much, I've been going to the one in Chester for a few years. One has just opened in my own city, so no need to travel any more!

They also now have an online shop which is new :)

I went to the new one in Bracknell and spent a fortune. However been disappointed with a few things. Gold veg peeler doesn’t peel properly. It’s not smooth but janky and leaves a rough surface.
the mini whisk fell a paper after two washes and the gorgeous rubbed glass soap dispenser doesn’t dispense soap! You have to pump it lots of time and it will eventually spit out a minuscule blob about 2 mm in size.

We’ve got one in Sheffield now. It’s quite nice, a bit ordinary and I think the IKEA style single path makes it feel a bit cheap. It’s a useful shop and Sheffield city centre is pretty dire these days so it is welcome.

bananafishbones1 · 04/11/2023 22:25

I've followed them on Instagram for a few years but their online store didn't ship to the U.K. I went to a store when I was in Copenhagen and loved it. I'm so excited that they have opened more stores in the U.K. none of them are near me yet! 🥲 although I sat doing an online order recently

I have the app and follow their craft tutorials but no idea about shops! My nearest is Cheltenham which is 45min.....is it worth it?

Moonlightsonatas · 05/11/2023 07:36

Was in Manchester for work this weekend and saw the SG store, I went in and got lots of lovely bits for my DDs for Christmas! Really reasonably priced too! I’d never heard of the brand before.

It is my local one. I've been twice... but... better quality kitchen stuff in Lakeland, better quality homeware in Next and Homebase, better quality craft stuff in Hobbycraft... it is not toooo pricey and has a load of different stuff, but the novelty has worn off already for me. And I really hate having to walk round the single path to buy the one thing (jam) that I picked up near the door.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/11/2023 10:05

We've had one in Belfast for probably about 10 years and one opened up in Bangor just before covid so I'm fairly used to them now. Great shop for lots of different bits but I particularly love their quirky reading glasses and also all their paints!

RaraRachael · 05/11/2023 11:51

There appears to be one in Glasgow which would probably be my nearest so only 200 miles away

starlilly88 · 08/11/2023 15:26

There's a new one opening up in lovely Woking, if anyone is near there.

RaraRachael · 11/11/2023 11:40

Visited my "local" one last week. It was ok. I bought a few things. It was a huge shop but 80% Christmas stuff so I wonder what it's full of for the rest of the year.
