Savoury evening snacks

Writing this as my DH tucks into pate on toast 🤢

I'm 90% all about the chocolate but, on nights like tonight I fancy something savoury and I have NOTHING to snack on. My brain just rewound and remembered how I moaned last Christmas that I had endless tubs of chocolate, coins, panettone, cake but no savoury snacks.

DH is a crisp fiend but I don't share the same love unfortunately.

So what are your savour my snacks of choice that I can stock up on now for Christmas

Cheese and biscuits
Biscuits and cheese

Cheese

Or a combination of all of the above

MsSquiz · 03/11/2023 21:59

My random savoury snack craving is blue Doritos dipped in cream cheese

Jewelanemone · 03/11/2023 22:01

Cheese footballs. Terrible things, but I love them.

Centercenter · 03/11/2023 22:02

Hummus, aioli, cheese and chutney. That's it for me really!

OMGitsnotgood · 03/11/2023 22:05

I could eat cheese all night every night, and I've the waistline to prove it.

More healthy, I do like hummus with sticks of carrot, celery and cucumber.

Peanuts, pistachios and cashew nuts. Also not very waist friendly but protein at least.

Salted popcorn

Bombay mix

I avoid snacking, but keep a good variety of nuts, pickled foods, canned fish in the pantry.
Tuna (Rio Mare in olive oil, for preference) with pickled gherkins is a favourite.

A big spoon of peanut butter is a good savoury hit too.

Iloveanicegarden · 03/11/2023 22:08

Nuts every time - especially chestnuts, cashews, pistachios, pecans and (from Lidls), caramelised almonds. twiglets, cheese straws

CopperLion · 03/11/2023 22:09

I love olives.

DilemmaDelilah · 03/11/2023 22:10

Poppadoms. And crudites with dips.

bellalou1234 · 03/11/2023 22:12

Mini sausage roll or an airfried tortilla pizza with veg

Catonaroof2 · 03/11/2023 22:16

Cheesies. Baked cheese that comes in packets like crisps. I have banned myself from their website!!

Cuthbertsrevenge · 03/11/2023 22:17

Cheese savouries! Retro and a bit naff but I love them.

Aldi do bags of garlic bruschetta. Sooooo good.

GettingOldWithoutStyle · 03/11/2023 22:23

I've never had a chestnut 🫣 wouldn't even know where to start (roast?) But I am intrigued

Love the idea of poppadoms actually, and tortillas

You need to balance the choc with savoury.

We have
crisps
nuts
loads of cheese & crackers
those savoury twist things can be cheese flavoured
savoury eggs, cocktail sausages.

Toddler101 · 03/11/2023 22:24

Those oven baked breaded mozzarella sticks, with sweet chill dipping sauce 👌

Redshoeblueshoe · 03/11/2023 22:28

Cheese
That's all

SquigglePigs · 03/11/2023 22:28

I mostly go for cheese and crackers to be honest but sometimes salted peanuts or mini poppadoms (although I dip them in mango chutney so still a bit sweet)

DD likes Ritz crackers (regular or cheese) or mini cheddars

Would mini pretzels work? Or salted popcorn?

AdaColeman · 03/11/2023 22:33

I like to have something in to go with a pre dinner G&T or sherry, favourites include olives, 🫒🫒 cubes of cheese with celery salt, grilled calamari rings, 🦑🦑 toast fingers with Gentleman's Relish or lumpfish caviar, or tapenade or aubergine 🍆🍆 pâté.
When I'm super organised, I make up a mixture of olives, feta cheese cubes, dried tomatoes, and grilled artichokes in vinaigrette which lasts a few days.
