What does everyone have planned?

My kids are all over the age of 10 now and non believe anymore so seeing a father Xmas won’t be happening.

Im thinking Longleat festival of light.
A light walk in a National park
Maybe the hippodrome
Xmas film movie night

Looking for more inspiration!

We have plans to go to London and do winter wonderland next year.

Longleat
London international horse show
NT houses - Polesden Lacy , Kingston Lacy , Standen house + whichever others we can fit in .
This year we have also booked :
Muppets Christmas Carol with a live orchestra
the winter event at the Excel ( only because we are there already for the horse show ) .

Whiterose23 · 10/09/2023 11:35

This year we have planned
Christmas at Eltham palace
luminate at Sandringham
Warwick castle
Legoland - kids are older but this is still a firm favourite although we won’t see Santa
A couple of NT house visits
We also have three days at Disneyland Paris at the start of December

Fivemoreminutes1 · 10/09/2023 13:25

Nutcracker ballet
Christmas themed afternoon tea
Hogwarts in the Snow

BlowDryRat · 10/09/2023 13:40

We've got:

The Nutcracker
Light trail at our local English Heritage place
Many Christmas films
Hogwarts in the snow
Christmas Eve shepherds' supper - Middle Eastern-style indoor picnic at home, lit by candlelight

Desecratedcoconut · 10/09/2023 16:33

There's a puzzle room with Christmas theme I have my eye on but the tickets I want aren't out yet.

Petal7 · 10/09/2023 17:51

We're doing
The Snowman ballet
NT light walk
Weekend to Brighton (Christmas market) and will book
Skating at Somerset House
Hogwarts in the snow

whereismysleep · 10/09/2023 21:42

We did My Neighbour Totoro a the Barbican last year, it was brilliant, I highly recommend it.

Not sure yet this year, thanks for the inspiration on this thread.

LuckyNumber6 · 11/09/2023 05:56

If you’re near longleat could you do Bath Christmas market as a day outing? I want to take mine because it’s so pretty 😊
we also have a winter light trail at a national trust, pantomime and Harry Potter studio tour booked. We’re going to try and watch all the movies over a weekend before we go 🙌

Yes! I plan to do that too (and the Bristol one). I forgot about 😂

I love Harry Potter! Hogwarts in the snow seems to be really popular with everyone. We have already done it though and we are going to universal Hollywood studios & Warner brothers studio tour in LA next year so didn’t want to overload with too much potter 😂 I may leave it for the year after next 😂

Christmas Afternoon tea sounds good!
I will look up the skating at Somerset house as that might be close ish to me.
I will also look up what’s on at our local theatre and I might just take out daughter as my son wouldn’t watch it.

We have done in the past ‘Glow crazy golf’ which was ok.

ha ha just seen Somerset house is in fact in London and not Somerset 😂😂😂😂

Mine are cheapies, we do:
Big Christmas market
A treasure hunt I plan myself
A big carol concert in the cathedral
A Christmas film
Walk to see the most impressive lights (there are some charity ones)

We do the Christmas markets as cheap thing BUT it still ends up costing a fortune as kids always want food or a drink or a hot chocolate or a crepe or anything and everything 😂

Although my other half is just as bad 😂😂

I used to love looking at all the Christmas lights as a kid. We used to go out driving around to find the best one (back when petrol was cheap😂)

I looked at the price of ice skating today and it was just under £50! For 4 of us. I’m sure Iv never spent that before.

So far I've only booked the light trail at Alnwick Gardens. Going to book panto tickets as soon as the gps confirm the dates are ok. I'd like to do Bamburgh Castle this year, and ideally find somewhere to go ice skating.

JessieJoJames · 11/09/2023 12:46

Any recommendations for a Santa visit?

I just missed out on Fotnums tickets :( We are Scotland based but I would travel for a really good one. My daughter is 5 and very much believes in all the magic.

Hibernatalie · 11/09/2023 20:29

Polar Express train ride first weekend in December. Then just before Christmas we are going to Warwick Castle where we will go ice skating, see Santa and light trail. Christmas Eve we are going to Panto. That's what we have booked but we'll also probably do a kid-focused church visit, and some nice bits like Christmas light safari when we feel like it.

MercyNursey · 11/09/2023 20:33

So far we have the panto at the Palladium booked and a Santa steam train. My DS is on the cusp of not believing (he’s 10!), he’s said a few times that santas not real but can’t worn out who actually buys the presents instead but I’d do the steam train even if he didn’t believe

I need to book Kew Gardens (we live up north but always do a night in London) and our local light trail.

Also want to book Chatsworth Christmas and a Christmas afternoon tea!

MercyNursey · 11/09/2023 20:35

Oh I also have a wreath making class booked with my friend!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/09/2023 21:46

i have booked :

ABBA Voyage for DD and I
Sherlock Christmas
Open Topped Bus Tour (lights)

Dec 1st big family brunch (at home)

DD and I go to London for the day shopping and browsing , going to try somewhere other than Oxford St .

Skogrammy · 12/09/2023 11:49

I’m booking Peter Pan in the theatre tonight to add to my Xmas list of activities 😃

Hoping to save a bit more in clubcard vouchers before booking festival of light. I only want to do the evening though as we did a full day at longleat less then a year ago.

If you're coming to Brighton, there's an ice skating rink that gets set up in front of the Royal Pavilion.https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj7p42_9LaBAxVPX0EAHaOkD98QFnoECBsQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Froyalpavilionicerink.co.uk%2F&usg=AOvVaw1RncMAJR1f39FUABH1nDYo&opi=89978449

If you’re SW why not do Stourhead Christmas lights? They’ve got a pub there too.

Westonbirt Arboretum is nice at Christmas too.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 06/11/2023 15:28

We usually do Kew Gardens, Hampton court, ice skating in London somewhere, Christmas market either in London or out of London. Ballet or theatre
