What did you buy for your DD the Christmas she was 4!
Struggling for ideas. Things we have already:
Bike
Scooter
Tepee / play tent thing
Play kitchen
Dolls - lots of dolls
Pram
Dolls house
Play dressing table / makeup desk
Kids Amazon kindle for cartoons etc
Outdoor stuff - slide / wooden house & swing (don't want a trampoline)

Need big main present ideas plus little bits, family also want ideas & I haven't a clue...!

A mud kitchen and a Disney Lego set.

Stompythedinosaur · 09/09/2023 10:05

And the Melissa and Doug magic set - that was a hit for years!

Rattlethestars · 09/09/2023 10:20

My daughter is 4 and she is having:
Games - Snakes & ladders (from Jacques of London), Buckaroo, Hungry Hippos, Pop up Pirate, Hoot Hoot Owl (or whatever it's called), plus two from Orchard Toys (a Unicorn one, plus some Mountain one I can't remember the name of)
Puzzles - GALT magic puzzle and an Orchard Toy one
Spirograph
Our Generation doll
Dominos Rally
Pet accessory thing for her dolls house
Playdough set (it's a animal/vet one)
Arts + craft stuff (clay, colouring books, paints, mold + paint set)
Maybe some Lego

This is off all the family including us. Might seem like a lot but all stuff she will love and use.

Rattlethestars · 09/09/2023 10:21

Oh and books. Can't forget books!

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/09/2023 10:22

We got dd4 last Xmas a pink metal wheelbarrow. She is very into gardening with daddy though so might not be an idea for every child. It does get lots of use though

17caterpillars1mouse · 09/09/2023 10:25

The other biggest hit was the djeco Oscar and Cannelle gingerbread decorating kit. It gets played with at least once a week still

mogtheexcellent · 09/09/2023 10:27

If you get out of the big present each year mindset there are lots of options. I know its nice to have a big present but it doesn't always match up with age or interests of child.

At that age dd loved sylvanian families and lottie dolls so we got her the slyvanian car and new dolls and outfits and secretly enjoyed the low cost present year.

Pammela2 · 09/09/2023 11:27

I have got a yoto mini with the headphones for my 4yo. We have a Tonies that we use at breakfast/colouring but these look far more portable!

ClaireUnderwoodforPresident · 09/09/2023 15:42

Some great suggestions - thanks! Hadn't thought of lots of these. Smile

Dressing up costumes
Kids cook book/baking set
Water pistol
Doctor’s role play kit

My DD is very into craft things. Things I'm thinking. She'll be turning 5 after Xmas.
Beads and bobs set from amazon
Hama Beads
Possibly craft table
Buggy/bath set for her babies
Hair accessories
Orchard toy game/puzzle

Last year she got
Paw patrol tower
Keyboard
Paint set
Playdoh set

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/09/2023 21:49

My DD was 4 last Christmas. Her main present was an Our Generation doll and pony set.

Other bits were:
Personalised baking apron
Squishmallow
Kinetic sand playset
Djeco gingerbread man playset
Colour-in ice cream van (Hobbycraft)
Floor is lava game
Glitter tattoo set
Cuddly unicorn toy
Books

This year she's already asked for a glow drawing pad. She'll also get:
Magic mixie
Potion making set
Art and craft bits
Set of books
Not sure what else yet.

My older daughter got a Furreal Cubby bear when she was 4 or 5ish and it's been a massive hit with both girls. We still have him and she's 11 now.

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 16/09/2023 22:34

Watching with interest. DD will be 4 at the beginning of December!

moonlight1705 · 16/09/2023 22:38

Last year we got her Gabbys Dollshouse and the crafting things and a doctor set for birthday. My sister got her a kite shaped like a bird which we t down very well.

This year we are planning on a yoto player for Christmas and a bike for her birthday. Although going to put that magic set on her list for other family members to look at!

WimbyAce · 16/09/2023 22:50

What actually are magic mixies? Have seen them but no idea what they do or if any good?

katmarie · 16/09/2023 23:00

Dd will be 4 this Christmas. So far she is getting:

Lego (probably disney, or spiderman)
Colouring stuff and a new colouring book or two
Playdoh stuff
A unicorn dressing gown
A bunch of stocking fillers like hair clips, notebooks, fluffy socks, cuddly toy etc
A toy shop check out type thing and some fake money and toy groceries to sell in it.
Books (too many probably but she loves books)
Some new clothes, no doubt

Her birthday is between now and then as well, and for that she's getting frozen lego, possibly a new doll, and some new books and clothes.

CoodleMoodle · 16/09/2023 23:07

DD got into Playmobil that year, I think she got the hospital and the preschool for birthday/Christmas... She's 9 and still plays with them (occasionally) so a good investment. We've got lots of it now, some new and some second hand.

And for DS it was Lego. He loved the 4+ sets because after a couple of times he could do it all by himself. He's 5 and still likes to take them apart and build them again!

Flubadubba · 17/09/2023 07:42

DD is just turned 4. Unicorns, my little ponies, and Barbie are her thing, along with animals. We have an ongoing list of stuff she has asked for throughout the year (so she doesn't kick off) and normally choose from that.

She loves:
Board games: KerPlunk, Hungry Hippos, Frustration
Yoto cards
Drawing up
Craft/drawing/painting/sticking
FurReal Pets
Fidget stuff
Soft toys
Anything outdoors
Bike (she just got a pedal one for her birthday)

Tortoisetowers · 17/09/2023 07:59

I've fallen into this trap of 'main present' automatically and bought expensive toys that my kids haven't been interested in.

This year, the most expensive thing I'm buying is £25 and I know the DC (2 and 4) will be so happy with the selection of toys. And so will my bank balance!

GotMooMilk · 17/09/2023 08:02

Watching! Nearly 4 year old with a jan birthday and she’s child 2 so has loads of hand me downs…. Never know what to get her!

Jessbow · 17/09/2023 08:28

You are already getting
Bike
Scooter
Tepee / play tent thing
Play kitchen
Pram
Dolls house
Play dressing table / makeup desk
Kids Amazon kindle for cartoons etc
Outdoor stuff - slide / wooden house & swing

And you want idea's for 'Big stuff''? Gee, any one of the above would be ''Big present' for many kids, never mind all of them

LexieLoos · 17/09/2023 08:40

@Jessbow I took it to mean OP's DD already has those things, as in maybe previous birthdays and Christmases, rather than is getting them all this year

OMGitsnotgood · 17/09/2023 08:52

Playmobile school, and her own big blackboard?

Lego has a lot of play value and if she gets into it, can be added to for years to come.

Dressing up outfits

Age appropriate board games and jigsaws.

Books
