Struggling for ideas. Things we have already:

Tepee / play tent thing
Play kitchen
Dolls - lots of dolls

Dolls house
Play dressing table / makeup desk
Kids Amazon kindle for cartoons etc
Outdoor stuff - slide / wooden house & swing (don't want a trampoline)

Need big main present ideas plus little bits, family also want ideas & I haven't a clue...!

Some good ideas! I’m in a similar position OP my DD4 has everything and I don’t know what to get next! (Doctors cart, vet set, dentist set, Disney castle with dolls, barbie dolls and wardrobe are the favourites just in case it helps anyone with ideas)

She’s into the new little mermaid, so I’ve ordered the new dolls and see an Ursula cauldron that makes potions which I think she’ll love. She likes the little LOL surprises but I think more for the surprise than the actual dolls. She loves role play but has lots of things already, think I might get the playmobile school as she does like to play school/nursery at home. Other than that I’ve got a bracelet making kit for her stocking, will get some hair accessories, a nice lip stick like mummy (lip balm), new books, new craft bits.

What actually are magic mixies? Have seen them but no idea what they do or if any good?

You get a plastic cauldron and have to add some potions to it and a toy magically appears inside. It quite gimmicky tbh and a 'one-hit' wonder rather than something that will get a lot of use but might have a 'wow' factor for a 5yo!

I basically bought it last year for DD when she had no idea what she wanted, they seemed to be very popular and I got a good deal! She also had a few of the mini ones which she loved so I thought it would go down well. But she gave me a last minute curve-ball when she fell in love with an OG doll and pony set so I held it back for this year!

Tbh, she's far more into magic and potions etc this year anyway so hopefully she'll like it. If not, she's getting it anyway as I've already bought it!!

This was our little one's favourite present last year. I thought it was a bit of a one hit wonder but she has used the cauldron loads. You can keep making potions and can fill a box they provide to reveal something new each time - there are refill packs you can buy or you can use your own ingredients. We would fill the box with a sweet or one of the smaller mixlings - never fails to amaze! I even just put a positive message in there once and little one loved it. Highly recommend!

Has anyone gotten their four year old a baby Anabel? The one that cries and sucks the bottle? Has it been popular or is it not really fitting for the age?

Flubadubba · 18/09/2023 12:53

@zaffa we got our (now) 4 year old one a while back and she loves it. It's grown with her as she has learnt more about babies, changing clothes etc. YMMV.

The other biggest hit was the djeco Oscar and Cannelle gingerbread decorating kit. It gets played with at least once a week still

Thank you. Just ordered this - it looks great fun

If you get out of the big present each year mindset there are lots of options. I know its nice to have a big present but it doesn't always match up with age or interests of child.

At that age dd loved sylvanian families and lottie dolls so we got her the slyvanian car and new dolls and outfits and secretly enjoyed the low cost present year.

Thanks for the Sylvanian Families suggestion - DD will love this! Will be ordering her a little bunny doll house and the triplets for now I think!

Dd4 has both a baby annabel and a baby Alexander. They are very loved, though she tends to play with them switched off but they are lovely weighted baby dolls and you can get so many lovely (though expensive) accessories

berrypop · 18/09/2023 22:52

My 4yo (nearly 5 at Christmas) dd has asked for
Giant Squishmallow
Sylvanian families funfair thing
Pink binoculars
Our generation boy doll (the one she's seen looks like her cousin)

She'll also be getting arts and crafts stuff, books, some Lego, a puzzle and a crazy fort.

Last year's biggest hit was a Learning Resources Moving Monkeys building set. She's also had her baby Annabell for a good while and still plays with it regularly. She also still loves her mini market and shopping trolley.
