@GettingOldWithoutStyle i didn’t notice that. I was ordering over £50 so I opted for free delivery instead.

TheLemon · 18/08/2023 09:19

Insanely cheap Flake chocolate - £12 ish for 144 bars! Not sure on expiry dates but have ordered some to arrive tomorrow.

@TheLemon you know those are the tiny ones to go in ice-creams, not the full sized ones? Still a good price, but I just thought I’d point it out in case you were expecting something different.

I was just going to point out the same. Obviously they are unwrapped and can be messy. I sometimes buy the smaller boxes from the ice cream wafer aisle in the aupermarket.

My tip is to put them in zip lock bags once opened. At 10p ish each, it's quite a good price. I use them for making hot chocolate.

TheLemon · 18/08/2023 09:49

Oh thanks all. I'd misread "individual" for "individually wrapped" and thought they'd be good for lunchboxes, but they'd go stale long before we got through 144 of them!

Order cancelled.

@Ehunt1 Thanks so much for the tip for the croquet set. Just bagged one for a friends granddaughter. I bought a delivery pass so am making full use of delivery for a year

I noticed the Peppa pig set I posted has another £2 off it now so is down to about £20. When I ordered I also ordered a set of figures which were £9 but then about £3 off at checkout so seemed q reasonable.

It was £23 IIRC last year. DDs Dad bought her one. I remember totting up the cost of the items and it came to about the same price. Impressive size, but also a PITA. DD doesn't always like what's in these things so I prefer to buy her favourite chocolate when I see it on offer in the run up and make her a hamper up (I'm stupidly practical though and hate waste)

Ignore me. It was £30 last year so a bloody rip off if you ask me. Also, in the news today, Costco say it wont be stocked this year.

Love the idea of a chocolate hamper, I could split multipacks… might keep my eyes open for some little hampers ❤️

Bomb cosmetics are great! I’m after some bubble tea kits if anyone has any great ideas

If you know what type of flavours they like, you can save a lot of money and get more by buying the ingredients separately. the 'bubbles' on Amazon- something like this with lots of flavours available. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Strawberry-Popping-Artificial-Coloring-glutenfree/dp/B07KQ27M59/ref=d_bmx_dp_i467cy1o_sccl_2_2/260-2472291-2804657?pd_rd_w=4QZkg&content-id=amzn1.sym.89225240-8a77-485f-8acf-5ccf81e8216e&pf_rd_p=89225240-8a77-485f-8acf-5ccf81e8216e&pf_rd_r=G5PEH0HEP1SPPGTJBY3N&pd_rd_wg=SzCKs&pd_rd_r=5622a2fc-b07d-4ff0-8eb0-299c0f36e891&pd_rd_i=B07KQ27M59&th=1

And then buying either tea bags to make cold- or flavoured instant tea that they do in multiple places. You can get lots of flavours and even test strange combinations.

If you are doing this, you will also need a boba straw- I learnt from experience with my DD that you cannot DIY it lol.

Myamoth · 18/08/2023 13:07

@JosephsMama1 there are some older threads on Mumsnet you could search for ideas, like this one: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4687363-elf-on-the-shelf - there's a note of a Facbook group for ideas there as well. The Elf wasn't really a thing when mine were young enough, not sure they'd appreciate it now, but it looks like fun!

@JosephsMama1 I would keep it as simple as possible. We didn’t start until DS was 5, but all we did the first year was move it to a different place. No fancy set ups or props needed. You’ll have years to come to do all of that. The novelty of just having an elf is fun enough.

My other half does it for our 2 girls (I made it clear this was to be his thing lol) and he gets a lot of ideas off Facebook but he never does anything expensive. There are crafty bits you can pick up from the range/the works etc that work well, fake snowballs, paper chains etc. Day 1 we do the elves with the advent calendars. Some people go crazy but you can do it quite nicely on a budget.

WimbyAce · 18/08/2023 14:10

Things like snow angels with icing sugar, drawn on faces on oranges etc Don't go too mad or you will be setting a yard stick for every year!

I remember period knickers being popular on this thread before - 3 pack reduced to £10 at M&S, size 6 and 8.

Thanks. I just bought 1 pack for my daughter who’s just started her period a few months the ago.

Not sure if she will take to them or not but £10 seems cheap enough for 3 pairs.

hannaisy · 18/08/2023 15:23

If anyone likes chocolate orange flavour and maltesers there is a 32-pack of individually wrapped malteser bunnies on offer - 47% off. It could be good for lunchbox snacks or even us adults, lol!

Have just seen these Airpod knockoffs - but in black for £20 instead of £50 - seems to be a limited amount but they seem great and such a deal. great reviews, so have ordered a few for stockings for my youngest 2 who keep asking for airpods lol.
