Any suggestions as to gift we can take for hostess of drinks do on Monday??
We are new to the village and this is a smart neighbour we don’t know.

Not among my network... Rose is the most drinks on the table in many parties I've been to.

Probably because so many people take rose wine to a party to get rid of it!

Very rude thing to say!

I’d take champagne and another gift - nice chocolate/biscuits/ olive oil or a plant.
Flowers are a bit tricky if she’s busy hosting and doesn’t have time to arrange in a vase.

How about a bottle of cremant if you can get one? My French friend says many of her friends drink this at Christmas in place of champagne as it’s made just outside the champagne region, so can’t be labelled as champagne, but same methods, climate etc.

School bottle tombola! Full of rose. Recycled every fair until it goes off.

A friend of mine brought a Crémant this year. Was really very nice. I'll be drinking it again once January's over.

Champagne if you can afford it (there are some great NY deals around); Cremant if you want to spend less.

Never rose unless you're going to a summer BBQ, never Prosecco unless you're sure the host likes it.

But actually I'd probably take decent chocs wrapped up prettily. Even food critics like chocolate!
