Well, I bought next year's Christmas cards last weekend, does that count?

mac1974 · 26/12/2022 12:15

I ordered some bits for the kids in the boots sale, also some craft items from the works. Contemplating something on Neom but I don't want to pay the delivery fee.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 28/12/2022 18:03

No, but I have started chucking things onto Amazon wishlists for next Christmas! Mainly stocking fillers. I can then keep a tab on them and buy them if the price drops low enough!

snowmanshoes · 28/12/2022 18:06

I’ve bought some bath and body works from next sale yes!

pinkksugarmouse · 28/12/2022 20:00

Funnily enough…no! Perish the thought.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 28/12/2022 20:00

Yup! Also from boots.

IET · 28/12/2022 20:01

Sort of...I bought some Christmas pjs for dc earlier in a size up for next year! There were plenty of people sniffing round the discounted Christmas stock too

AreOttersJustWetCats · 28/12/2022 20:04

Surely this is only possible for completely generic gifts though? The kind that I don't particularly want to receive (happier someone gave me nothing rather than a random 'gift set') and try not to give.

Spudlet · 28/12/2022 20:05

No! However, I will start thinking about what I need to be getting to make gifts next year. I often make sloe gin, but I might try something a bit different next year. perhaps bramble gin instead.

earsup · 28/12/2022 20:09

got wrapping paper today for 50p a roll but can use for birthday also as not a xmas design, lots of xmas choc packs...also 50p and 75p. only buy 3 gifts a year so no rush to get anything just yet.

MeMyBooksAndMyCats · 28/12/2022 20:10

No, but I've started saving.
Next year is going to be rough with money so would rather get on it now.

IncessantNameChanger · 28/12/2022 20:15

I bought some things in the sale for dh and for his birthday. I really need to start a gift draw or box because I kept loosing things that I bought early!

eatdrinkandbemerry · 28/12/2022 20:33

No but I'm definitely going to buy gifts whenever I see a good deal every month this year .

Hemax1 · 28/12/2022 20:35

Yes I bought some things in the olli ella sale for dd age 2 next year - but that was before this Christmas 🙈

I made cassis/blackcurrant brandy this year. It was amazing, I didn't make enough to give away but hopefully will do next year.

RagzRebooted · 28/12/2022 20:36

Also tempted to buy stuff for next year but I didn't manage to keep track of all this year's gifts and I only started in November, so I won't.

This is a good idea.

Thsi time last year I started a separate Christmas presents savings account with a monthly dd going into it on payday. I just kickstarted this year's one by shoving £75.00 in today.

bluefrog11 · 28/12/2022 20:54

I’ve bought half price wrapping paper from M&S today, does that count? It’s the nicest paper ever and plastic free so at half price it’s a bargain.
Also bought a cowshed gift set half price for a September birthday.

Sunshineismyfriend · 28/12/2022 21:02

No but I would if I knew what to buy them! Interested in Xmas pj’s for next year though. Anyone know if there’s any online in the sale?

Wetblanket78 · 28/12/2022 21:14

No I've not even thought about going shopping. Someone posted yesterday on one of the Facebook bargain group. Said they had got all next year's presents. It was just a trolley full of Lynx. Every year a family member buys my son a Lynx set because he's a young man. And every year I tell them it's no good for his skin. He has eczema so using Lynx would cause a flare up. Ends up in a charity shop.

LynetteScavo · 28/12/2022 21:23

I have half price wrapping paper and cards from M&S- so I'm organised for that.

Baconand · 28/12/2022 21:27

It’s not really how we do family gifts-we buy things we know the person wants or needs based on wish lists. I can’t possibly know what they might want or need in a years time.
I did buy very cheap wrapping paper and gift bags and am looking for Xmas clothes for DD but that’s it.

lindyloo57 · 28/12/2022 21:33

I've brought some Christmas cards reduced and one half price beauty gift from tesco

wychiep00 · 28/12/2022 21:34

The only Christmas anything I've "started" is finding patterns and buying half-off fabric so I can make Christmas Stockings for my niece and her son who is due in May. Not the father because he's an ass and I'm petty. Beyond that, spare cash is being set aside for necessities for her and baby. Baby won't really remember Christmas til he's 2 or 3 anyway so I'd rather save up for plane tickets and plan a visit and lots of presents then.

SkankingWombat · 28/12/2022 21:46

I see your 'starting on the 26th' and raise you: '17th' 🙈😂 I spotted heavily discounted Lego advent calendars in a sales email, and having never had them before, DCs won't be fussed they aren't the latest ones. DCs also chose a decoration each for their mini bedroom trees yesterday. The only other thing for Xmas '23 I am on the lookout for is wrapping paper, although I am keeping my eyes peeled for anything suitable for DCs' (June) birthdays too...
