I started on Christmas Eve this year! Half price PJ's in the John Lewis sale and pants/socks for next Christmas. I need to buy next year's cards (I only send a handful to family) and some more wrapping paper.

No, but I have started chucking things onto Amazon wishlists for next Christmas! Mainly stocking fillers. I can then keep a tab on them and buy them if the price drops low enough!

You should take a look at camel camel camel (not a typo)

it’s a website where you can set alerts should a product on Amazon drop in price…

God no I want to enjoy the coming months of a brand new year . I can barely look at the xmas tree , food .

Mossstitch · 28/12/2022 22:44

I confess to doing it late Christmas day as I was sent a sale preview email from fatface, just stocking fillers really that will keep, all half price......... And a coat might have slipped in on account of me being unable to do the zip up on my only weatherproof coat 😩

Not really but I do save with Park every month , I’ve opa few bits in the next sale a lovely wreath and a couple of Christmas jumpers . I may look for a few things this week just wrapping paper / crackers that sort of thing not presents yet though .

CinnamonJellyBeans · 28/12/2022 23:29

Yep, just starting my spreadsheet today. Have bought most of the in-law gifts in the sales.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 28/12/2022 23:40

@ScreamingFrog, thanks. Yes I've used camelcamelcamel a few times for the DC's bigger birthday and Christmas gifts nearer the time, once I'm sure on what they're getting. It's very useful.

spottygymbag · 29/12/2022 03:05

Not exactly Christmas shopping but I have started the pre Christmas shopping- a few elf accessories, some Christmas craft kits that can be brought out as soon as they are needed. Also some new Christmas pjs for the DC as they only just fit into last years ones this year. I've put calendar reminders on my phone for November that I've done this, and where they are stored.
Still on the list is getting a reel of labels made for each dc to say "to DD from Santa" and "to DS from Santa". We got away with sale labels and handwriting this year but there will definitely be more questions next year!

I haven't, but the things I tend to buy this early are not present for friends and family buy presents for the local gift donation. I bought several things this time last year heavily reduced and I need to start looking again for next year's.

snowmanshoes · 29/12/2022 10:12

Just picked up some makeup bargains for dd’s bday soon too!

Cuppasoupmonster · 29/12/2022 10:14

Yep it’s a great idea! I haven’t bought any presents yet but will after payday, and picked up some matching Christmas outfits that will fit DD and our new baby due in March.

Surely this is only possible for completely generic gifts though? The kind that I don't particularly want to receive (happier someone gave me nothing rather than a random 'gift set') and try not to give.

I've got my mum some totes slipper socks which I'm sure she will love for £7 instead of £14. So not a big gift but I wouldn't have been able to justify them at full price..
I've also got dp some nice totes socks, a bath confetti thing each for my friends daughters and a mini Yankee candle and Ted Baker bath bombs for dps mum.

So it's all stuff I think they will like not just gift sets because they're cheap as some people do 🤷‍♀️

No, I won’t start until Nov next year.

Shufflebumnessie · 29/12/2022 17:34

I've bought a few bits to be donated to the various school gift appeal fundraisers that happen throughout the year.
I've also bought Christmas design seat pads for use next year (we don't have enough padded dining chairs for everyone at Christmas lunch). No actual Christmas presents as such though.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 31/12/2022 12:50

No, because I wouldn't have a clue what to buy. I refuse to buy any of the toiletry style gift sets that boots and the like sell as I think it is such a cop out.

I also dont buy xmas themed PJs as I want them suitable all year round.

My kids mainly ask for lego and art supplies. The former is rarely massively discounted anyway so no point buying early.

I have continued my savings acct instead..

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/12/2022 14:42

Not yet , but I did buy three rolls of paper from Sainsbury (Habitat brand) that had the sticky labels . Infuriated me so much trying to unpeel that I only used one roll , So I have 2 for next year !

In Feb I saw some pyjamas 50% off that I'd planned to buy for DD Christmas , so she got them this year , soft , dark plain green.

I haven't been int the shops except Ikea and Sainsbury , and both times I stayed away from the Sales items (though Sainsbury do good reductions on household things , but I need to clear things out not bring things in)
