For me personally I will NOT be wrapping presents on Christmas Eve/early hours of Christmas morning I say this every year

Tree will be put up BEFORE Christmas Eve day 🌲

I will be on a cruise from 21st December to 4th January (booked it online today)

This sounds like an excellent idea

@LimeCheesecake no, don't go and lick your neighbour, you'll get the flu too Xmas Grin

Wasn't that the point of the post (to catch the 'flu so they don't have to spend the rest of the holiday visiting relatives) Confused

BadShepherd · 25/12/2022 18:06

Fuck it. I’m off to google cruises. 😁

MeanderingGently · 25/12/2022 18:08

I won't be working all day.
I fully intend to change my job this year, to one that doesn't require shifts on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and well into the New Year, including the New Year weekend itself....

Next year I will be sharing Christmas with the family, like everyone else.

HayleyBean · 25/12/2022 18:09

I'll be more organised! I've got a 4 week old baby who arrived 16 days early so everything went to shit! The only thing my family got from me is cards and their first grandchild!

Meltinthemiddle · 25/12/2022 18:09

Thinking of going away however weary that we have elderly relatives so want to make the most of them being here. Plus we have the dog to sort out but as soon as the kids are older we will be going away for Christmas! I have felt utter shit all week, stressed and cold. Nothing about Christmas is the same anymore, TV is shitter hardly any decent specials. Chocolates taste like shite. Shopping is crap as most stores have not closed.

Mistletoeandwinee · 25/12/2022 18:10

We decided to have beef this year instead of turkey/chicken. Nothing wrong with it but it just didn't feel like a Christmas dinner. So next year will go back to turkey or chicken.

Sorry to all who have had stressy/crappy Christmas Days. Here's hoping next year will be better.

Congratulations HayleyBean on your new arrival.

I'm seriously thinking of going somewhere warm next year too. Been looking at friend's Christmas in Oz photos and I'm envious. Not sure i'll go that far but even a week in The Canaries would do. Both DH & DS are off over Christmas (forced A/L) so it would work fine.

antelopevalley · 25/12/2022 18:16

Probably not visit the cemetery next year, but only six months since both my parents died in a car crash.

Readaboutyourself · 25/12/2022 18:18

I’ve had a wonderful one & very grateful for that but I look forward to a cosy & quiet one at home.

Hopefully we’ll have a baby by then so 3 of us & the cat.

AnotherVice · 25/12/2022 18:23

Not let ex have the children. They were supposed to back by now, grrr.

lionhead1 · 25/12/2022 18:24

I'm going to be more selfish in the run up and do things that I actually want to do instead of being pushed into doing things that I don't want to.

MerryChristmasToYou · 25/12/2022 18:26

Not buy the cheapest potatoes

Make 10-min pasta/pizza the main meal and enjoy the rest of the day with my family for once!

Isleoftights · 25/12/2022 18:32

Not bring the neighbours bins in. There's two of them + two teenage kids; and one of me. And yet again, the couldn't be arsed to pop a Christmas card in my letter box.

NoNamesLeft234678 · 25/12/2022 18:32

I imagine next year will be much busier as our 1 year old will be a 2 year old 😅

Today has actually gone quite well though :)

We opened stockings and santa presents in bed this morning then we visited dps family. After that we went to my parents for breakfast then we came home where ds had a long nap and me and dp opened presents and watched ELF. Ds is now playing whilst me and DP make buffet food 😝

C1N1C · 25/12/2022 18:33

Different country next year. We decided to go to Salzburg for the Christmas to avoid all the family stress.

It worked out well... Will be repeating!

antelopevalley · 25/12/2022 18:33

@Greengr Thank you! Not a bad day considering.

upfucked · 25/12/2022 18:34

Something very different. Parents insisted on a starter, my sister on 3 million different sides which meant by sister and I spent the whole time in the kitchen cooking and cleaning so the food was crap and the kids didn’t eat it so I had to make them something at home.

Delorestormborn · 25/12/2022 18:37

I made the mistake of buying and wrapping all the presents. Also buying and cooking all the food. Next year I’m going to a hotel under an assumed name and I’m going to start a new life.

Squirrelblanket · 25/12/2022 17:44

I'm not doing secret Santa with my friends again. Every year, everyone says they want to do it. And every year someone doesn't get a gift because other people haven't been arsed to sort themselves out. This year I'm the one without a gift despite putting a beautifully thoughtful present together for the person I got, and sending it in plenty of time. 🙄

That's the pits, I hope you've had a better day 🎄❤️

Awwww congratulations.

I'm sure they love their Christmas gift and I hope they are all doing their fair share so you're resting?!
