Anyone else poorly this Christmas?

Had antibiotics last week, finished those but still poorly.

haf a Christmas/birthday weekend away cancelled, a visit to a local light show, and tonight a Christmas meal with friends.

I feel like I’ll be spending Christmas in my pyjamas and on the sofa just trying to recover from this stupid virus!

Anyone else poorly at the moment? Hope you have a relaxing Christmas!

My whole family have this winter flu bug going around, only ones who haven't had it are the children (all of which are too young to have the vaccine). Me and my partner even said today I don't think we're even be able to stomach christmas dinner, I've got the christmas dinner stuff in but also a few easy dinners to get us by till next week. Alot of our family will be receiving bank transfer as a christmas present and I'm glad our little ones don't understand christmas yet (just turned 2 years and 6 months old) as I think I'd be telling them the elves are poorly too and couldn't get all the presents wrapped🤦‍♀️ I really wish we could just postpone christmas and have it when we are all feeling human!

Yep, feel terrible. Really gutted as we’ve had to cancel so much stuff and I’ve got mum guilt that dd5 is having a shit time.

Just very tired, no energy, get breathless if I do too much, and have a touch of the glooms. Dog is stressing me out. Just sooo had enough. However, compared to @Hails68, tis nothing. If it is any help, I'm five years clear of bc. If you want to pm me to talk anything through, then please do.

Thank you, I'm pleased to hear that you've been clear for 5 years.
I have no idea how to message directly as I don't seem to have that facility, but thank you xx

Hope everyone feels better soon, is able to enjoy at least something about the day and that you all recover quickly. Thinking particularly of those who are worrying about serious illness or in significant pain.

I'm quite unwell anyway so do often struggle but tested positive for covid yesterday (my first time!). I don't have a great deal of my taste or smell, am finding it a little hard to breathe ( nose totally blocked), contend with the fever and have absolutely no appetite so that's put most plans to bed. Obviously I won't be seeing anyone having tested positive so am trying to reframe it in my mind as a free day with no obligations to just rest and find small bits of self care that I'm up to - duvet on the sofa, cuddles with the puppy, opening some presents we have at home and a bit of reading or tv if the headache abates.

The NHS were very quick to provide antivirals so I'm trying to remain positive that it won't develop into anything serious but have been hospitalised a few times this year so you never know and the dread is always in the back of your mind, I find. Anyone who's been in hospital knows it isn't somewhere you ever want to be, and now more than ever.

SnowWayOut · 24/12/2022 02:37

Me and 2 of my kids have norovirus so now can't visit my parents. We've got no food in or deliveries booked so no idea what's going to happen there.
My husband is suffering with sciatica and is currently knocking himself out with painkillers as it's so painful.
So Christmas this year is not looking good.

Dh has had the lurgy for the past week, flu like symptoms and struggling with his chest. Ive woken up this morning not feeling great, my head is banging, I’m chesty and sneezing and to top it off I’ve hurt my wrist as I went arse over tit on some storage boxes during the night letting the cat out of the bedroom…..I just want to go back to bed!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 24/12/2022 12:05

DH and I have just gotten over the horrible lurgi going round. I’m currently sheltering in my room (immune compromised) as the DCs have all being hit with a horrible vomiting bug. Luckily DH very rarely gets effected by them, but if I get it that’s me out for days. I’ve not spent an entire Christmas Day with my DCs in 5 years due to health issues and I’ve never taken my youngest to see Santa, missed out again this year again due to illness, so I’m determined to be well tomorrow. Feeling a little sad and sorry for myself, I can hear Christmas music and my DH chatting and singing with my DCs downstairs, even though their ill they are still excited, I want to join in but I know it’s too risky. No one’s been sick since last night so the plan is after baths and showers tonight I will head down to do the Christmas Eve things with them and 🤞 they are past the contagious period.

Me
I was ok until the middle of the night when a cough ended up waking me up and my head hurt. Managed to sleep but have woken an hour or so ago like shit.
Sore scratching Throat
Cough (I actually coughed so much I gagged but wasn't sick thank the Lord)
Shivers especially down the bottom of my back.

Hope we all improve very soon.

Hails68 · 23/12/2022 13:16

I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Really not feeling like Christmas festivities, but going to put a brave face on and push through.

Bless you x

Folkishgal · 24/12/2022 15:40

Myself, DH and 1yo DD all have norovirus, also caught from soft play 💀

GettingStuffed · 24/12/2022 16:02

I'm on week 3, only not got a splitting head thanks to DD cold relief. I still have chest pains and wonderfully coloured catarrh. Going on past history I suspect it's a chest infection but I'm nowhere near my GP . D H is similar but hasn't got the cough

ButterBastardBeans · 24/12/2022 16:08

Yep, Cancelled off the rellies and you could retread tyres with the stuff I'm bringing up - genuinely shipping it green. Been like this for three weeks now. Sick t'effin death of it now.

70sShmeventies · 24/12/2022 19:17

I feel absolutely horrendous. Some flu like virus. Have to just push through it for the kids tomorrow and Boxing Day then I’ll try and rest Tuesday.

I’m hosting tomorrow and Wednesday 😥

InfinityOrUndefined · 24/12/2022 20:39

We are surprisingly healthy. Ds has impetigo on his face but got antibiotics and by the looks of it seems getting better. I think usually they prescribe cream for localised impetigo but because of strep A he got oral antibiotics.

SomeCommonThing · 24/12/2022 20:43

I had just gotten over a horrible bug that DS gave me.

Then on 22nd DH who never ever gets sick came down with a cough and fever, which DS got, and I woke up with today. DH is snappy and grumpy, and we didn't get much sleep last night so is tired.
We also have no water, I could honestly cry.

Stomacharmeleon · 24/12/2022 22:18

Yep me.
I think it's the 'bug' but I also have a kidney infection as am peeing orangeade.
Which wouldn't be an issue but I have cancer, had my 26th bowel op this year, am mid radiotherapy and have Crohn's disease amidst a long list of things.
Am Defo dehydrated.
Watching American football with dp and farty dog. Dp keeps sighing as saying 'I better not have another drink in case you need the hospital'
Sigh.....

Yes. Woke up with a scratchy throat atv5am yesterday, by 8am voice had gone. Temp, glands up, tired, sore throat and ears...joyous. just hope the rest of family dont come down with it now

Same! Ive had it for about 2 weeks as well, my colds never last this long. Ive been ‘lucky’ in that I can still go about normal activities but feel pretty rough and I’m in bed early every night.
