Anyone else poorly this Christmas?

Had antibiotics last week, finished those but still poorly.

haf a Christmas/birthday weekend away cancelled, a visit to a local light show, and tonight a Christmas meal with friends.

I feel like I’ll be spending Christmas in my pyjamas and on the sofa just trying to recover from this stupid virus!

Anyone else poorly at the moment? Hope you have a relaxing Christmas!

I've had a stomach bug for the last 5 days. No appetite, barely eating anything. The silver lining is that I've lost 1.5 kg which can only be good. Just another 7 kg to go but I doubt it will happen.

StrawberryWater · 22/12/2022 21:53

Yep. Had a horrendous chest infection for the last two weeks. Not been able to rest much either so it’s not clearing as quickly as I’d like.

wavingfuriously · 22/12/2022 21:59

Yep, stinking cold🤧

JoyeuxNarwhal · 22/12/2022 22:02

🙋‍♀️
Got a UTI. Started antibiotics yesterday but feel worse now than before I started with them. Knackered, in pain and feeling like I'm going to barf any second. Fever's come down at least.

Figgygal · 22/12/2022 22:03

Covid for me and my youngest. Super cranky as we got it from helping a dance concert and all the parents let their kids come sick. They either had covid or gastro. Most were crying saying how sick they were. So now if we don’t test negative on Christmas we can’t do our big family gathering as we have a 99 year old and 96 year old grand parents. We aren’t in the uk and my sister from London is here and I haven’t seen her for 6 years and I’m so sad we might miss Christmas Day with everyone.

Passthecake30 · 22/12/2022 22:14

I currently have a chest infection, dp has a heavy cough and cold, ds has a temp, headache and diarrhoea. Fun times.

Christmasinbed · 22/12/2022 22:18

I'll join you, 10 weeks of covid followed by 2 weeks of Strep A. I'm still coughing.

Oh you poor things..

IsItaCowIsItaPlane · 22/12/2022 22:24

Here too. DS3 came down with a fever of 39.8° on Saturday and has been ill until today, I've had sniffles, and blocked ears for over a week but Tuesday night came down with a raging sore throat, ear ache and headaches and generally feel like my head is in a bucket of water. LFT is negative. DS1 came down with a raging temperature last night and DS2 is either putting it on or also coming down with it. DH is doing a sterling job of prepping everything for Christmas, but I'm wondering if we are going to be ok in time.

ExDH and my Mum have both been super ill, both described feeling like they were dying and aren't prone to dramatics.

It's all just a bit shitty.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

RitaSueandBobtwo · 22/12/2022 22:26

I am now on day 11 my snotty nose and sneezing has largely dried up now, but my throat is still a bit sore and scratchy but the worst is my cough particularly on an evening or if I take the dog out for a walk in the cold.

Never mind my daughter had it the week before me and now my husband and son have it. It will definitely be a quiet Christmas.

ChristmasCwtch · 22/12/2022 23:00

Hope everyone’s feeling better very soon!!

I woke up with a streaming cold and sinus pain on Monday. I bought the boots own brand version of first defence spray on Tuesday (used it 3 times a day) and my cold has very nearly gone. Really recommend it if anyone has cold symptoms!!

Passthecake30 · 23/12/2022 06:34

Thanks @wavingfuriously
Hope everyone feels better soon

mnahmnah · 23/12/2022 10:46

Spent the last two weeks trying to get rid of the horrid non-covid covid. Now I’m sat in the doctors waiting room with suspected tonsillitis! Bloody brilliant.

pinkksugarmouse · 23/12/2022 11:44

Yes DD(20) is headed over today to stay til the 27th but she has a cold so will probably want to spend a lot of time in bed. Fair enough, I’ll just bring up tea and toast and hopefully she’ll feel a bit better by Christmas Day.

Mollyplop999 · 23/12/2022 11:46

I've got a water infection. Feel like crap.

WhatFreshHeII · 23/12/2022 11:57

I was diagnosed with critical hypertension on Tuesday at a GP appointment for something completely unrelated. It was a massive shock. Because of the Christmas break GP couldn't do the usual 7 day monitoring so put me on medication immediately. I'm feeling absolutely crap - the worry of the diagnosis, plus the shitty side effects. Absolutely no symptoms of HBP - in fact when I measure it myself at home it's in the mild hypertension range, so I'm honestly not even sure the medication is currently necessary. Especially as I had to run to the GP because my bus had been cancelled, had just had an argument with DH and had also taken ibuprofen just before I left the house, all of which can elevate BP so I'm told (it was 170/122 at the surgery and is 142/99 at home).

Also I feel a sniffle, cough and general blah feeling coming on. It could be side effects, it could be a cold, but it had better not be bastard covid. I've had it seven times now including in September and four weeks ago.

snugglyblanket · 23/12/2022 13:06

Yep. DC both had a nasty cough & cold, both tested negative for covid several times. Then I tested positive with same symptoms so guess they had it too. Dh has it too now. GPs & DB also poorly with chest infections so we've pushed Christmas dinner back. It's all in the freezer, nobody is too bothered as we all live locally. Sorry for those who are really missing out.

Igotthegoose · 23/12/2022 13:13

Yep, two weeks with it being full on, working overtime is stressing me out more, I’ve got a week long migraine that won’t shift and we haven’t finished Christmas shopping I’ve given up.

not even sending cards out this year, and my mum and brother I’m just going to pop a bit of money in an envelope rather than a gift because I can’t be bothered!

Luckily we only have the children in the morning this year Christmas Day and the rest of the afternoon it’s ours to do sod all and sleep

Hails68 · 23/12/2022 13:16

I've just been diagnosed with breast cancer. Really not feeling like Christmas festivities, but going to put a brave face on and push through.

middleager · 23/12/2022 13:20

I've had exhaustion, temp and a hacking cough all week, but no cold.
I feel absolutely dreadful. In bed all week and it's all I can do to text.

OldTinHat · 23/12/2022 13:24

I came down with it yesterday and am currently in bed.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 23/12/2022 13:29

Just got over chest infection then end of termitus kicked in with a heavy cold. Tested just in case and the positive came up in 30 seconds! Day four and still a strong positive.

middleager · 23/12/2022 17:43

And this puts my minor gripes into perspective.
I'm sorry to hear this. Sending positive thoughts to you xx

KathieFerrars · 23/12/2022 18:31

Just very tired, no energy, get breathless if I do too much, and have a touch of the glooms. Dog is stressing me out. Just sooo had enough. However, compared to @Hails68, tis nothing. If it is any help, I'm five years clear of bc. If you want to pm me to talk anything through, then please do.
