A lot frustrated posters here (me included) so thought I'd start a lighter Christmas thread for us all to think about what we can't wait for this Christmas (yes, including it just being over and done with Grin i'll go first.

It's my youngest and final child's first Christmas.
Having a small one this year with just us, BIL and SIL who are bringing half the stuff and staying the night.
Further in-laws coming on Boxing Day, then coming back on New Years eve possibly so us and BIL/SIL (who is my best friend) can go out child free!

What are you looking forward to this year?

Detectorists Christmas special.

MyBooksAndMyCats · 21/12/2022 18:42

No school runs, a whole 8 hours sleep! Grin
Playing board games with the dc.
Chilling in our PJs and watching die hard! Bring it on, haven't had a break since august so this is well needed.

We’re having a quiet one this year, so I’m making the most of the small moments.

So far I’ve enjoyed making and icing Christmas cakes, and making mincemeat.

Seeing family to swap presents last Sunday.

Lighting my annual White Company Winter candle, to see in the solstice. It smells beautiful.

Having a lovely, relaxed Christmas Day with DH and DS.

A seaside walk on Boxing Day with our many dogs.

Ghosts and Detectorists Christmas Specials.

Then DS1 and his lovely GF joining us on the 27th, for a Christmas re-run and a big dinner!

MyBooksAndMyCats · 21/12/2022 18:44

Motherland Christmas special - can't forget that!

Sugarfree23 · 21/12/2022 18:44

My kids opening their presents.
I've cut back this year (well I tried to) couple of big ticket items which means I've spent the same.
And a chill out day on 27th. Christmas day is normally hectic. And we have people here on 26th too.

pimlicoanna · 21/12/2022 18:49

Two weeks off work!

pimlicoanna · 21/12/2022 18:50

And the joy of Xmas with small children of course! Smile

QuestionsFromThePublic · 21/12/2022 19:04

Christmas dinner. We have extended family with us on Christmas Day. I much prefer Boxing Day with just my DH and DC. Love having leftovers and staying in PJ's.

AppleandSpice · 21/12/2022 19:20

The week between Christmas and new year, I get the week to be me and take some time for myself. I do minimal housework, do no shopping. Take time to do my hobby’s and chill out!.
Might cook the odd meal but I’m not a slave to the kitchen, everyone just helps themselves whenever and whatever they like. We’ve enough to keep everyone fed and watered for at least a couple of weeks. (We’ve no small children though)
it the only time of the year I can do this so I make the most of it!

Mooshroo · 21/12/2022 19:21

Not being fucking pregnant like last year 😍

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 21/12/2022 19:25

Leaving work 1pm Christmas Eve not going back until 1pm on Boxing Day (acute med nurse).
Cooking Christmas dinner.
My 12 week old grandson on Christmas night.

PenCreed · 21/12/2022 19:25

A few days at home with just DH - we're all over the place seeing family but home for New Year. We have a sort of lodger but she's away over Christmas so it's just us for a few days. After a really busy couple of months, then several days of family, we'll need the breathing space and down time so I'm really looking forward to it!

vincettenoir · 21/12/2022 19:25

Motherland Xmas Special; my truffle flavoured crisps; my daughter opening her stocking; champagne with lunch; and playing board games with nephew and other rellies.

Roselilly36 · 21/12/2022 19:26

DS1 coming home

RandomSunday · 21/12/2022 19:32

The day after Boxing Day, when I’ve done nanny duty and turned up for invitations from adult DC from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day, which entails lots f travelling… and petrol costs 😣 Plus entertaining 2, childless, adult DC and their partners over Christmas. All will have departed the day after Boxing Day. The end is in sight 🙏

Me and Ddog will head for a much needed walk along the beach …. And a simple, cheap, quick meal on the return home. Bring it on! 🍷

Crap TV
Eating Yule log
Having a huge roast and not feeling guilty
Spending time with ds

Chrysanthemum5 · 21/12/2022 19:37

Today DH got offered a job! He was made redundant 4 1/2 years ago and has been doing self employed work since then but sometimes that's great and sometimes there's no work. My salary is good but it's been really rough. DH had lost a lot of confidence.

So I am looking forward to not worrying about things as much!

Xmas Day parkrun

I salute you! I wish this was me next Christmas...

This Christmas I am looking forward to finishing work for a few days and sitting in front of the fire eating cheese, drinking fizz, and resolving to get fit and slim next year!

emmathedilemma · 21/12/2022 19:59

Oh I’ll be doing all those things too!!

emmathedilemma · 21/12/2022 20:00

Hooray @Chrysanthemum5 congratulations to your DH! 🥂

Chrysanthemum5 · 21/12/2022 20:18

Thanks @emmathedilemma ! Having a glass of champagne to celebrate!

StridTheKiller · 21/12/2022 20:31

I've done a sack of presents for a very good friend. She grew up in a very abusive household so has never experienced this. I can't wait to see her face.

Squarerootofpi · 21/12/2022 20:35

My first Christmas that doesn't center around a man. Except 6yo ds, but he gets a pass.

Marynotsocontrary · 21/12/2022 20:38

That's brilliant news @Chrysanthemum5 😀
The best Christmas present!
