What do you still have left to do?

One week to go, so some people will be 99% sorted and others will be getting started. What’s still on your Christmas prep to-do list?

Mine:

1 still waiting for one present to be delivered, I’m starting to think it might not arrive in time and I’ll need to venture to the shops to find a replacement.

2 get the final bits of chocolate for the stockings.

3 about 4 presents left to wrap.

4 the house is a tip again despite my early December deep clean, so I’ll need to spend some of this weekend making it presentable.

5 hosting drinks next week - need to buy drinks and food for that.

6 need to make a few things ahead of Christmas Day - red cabbage and stuffing might be all that gets done. And I’d like to bake some mince pies and cookies if I get time.

7 make a restaurant reservation for NYE

8 the big Christmas food shop. I haven’t pre-ordered anything this year except the turkey so am hoping I can get everything I need in person…

Please share your lists, I always find these threads helpful as I’ve probably forgotten about 10 things I still need to do!

Our final jobs today are,

me - make a veggie main course for 2 guests

him - do the planning & prep for the rest of the meal for everyone else (inc the veggie guests).

Both of us - bring the booze up from the cellar.

Family start arriving today, so need to get cracking.

I regret not making more cheesy Christmas stars, only two left, and regret not taking the ham out of the fridge earlier as its taking forever to reach 10 degrees and I wanted it in the oven half an hour ago. But everything else is going smoothly thanks to all the preparations, just a pity I have no appetite to enjoy the breakfast and chocolates.

To Do:

try and tidy up downstairs a bit, especially clearing the kitchen for cooking - bathrooms started on, kitchen counter a total mess again so needs redoing/reclearing

get smarties Bought ✅ and then finish choc Rice Krispie cake I’ve half made, realised I need more chocolate to melt

get DD to make gingerbread house at some point
Plus we were going to make star cookies but haven’t yet so prob won’t get round to it

Christmas Eve Parkrun - find Santa hats or festive outfits Done ✅

stuff socks
FC food? If DC still want to play along
reindeer food? Ditto
look at NORAD? ditto

FC presents under the tree after DC go to bed - this involves staying awake lol

Absolutely nothing! ( apart from stockings later). All done and relaxing in pjs. The joy of having older children!

Wrap adult dd and son in laws gifts.
Find cats christmas presents and put them in their sack
Shave legs and wash hair
Paint nails
Throw lasagne i made earlier in the oven
Nip around to drop dgds main present from her parents off, we've been hiding it here, they live a few minutes away so we'll wait for the signal she's fast asleep and sneak it around.
Put new pjs on and crack open the baileys.

Having never done Christmas Eve boxes or similar, I’ve asked DD if she’d like her Christmas present of pjs this eve and she’s very excited so may give the three of them today. I know others do that routinely but we never have.

To Do:

I think I'm done! I have little DCs so we will do all the Santa stuff later, but other than that, I'm ready for the day.

I made the last bits and pieces I could do in advance yesterday and today and bought my last presents yesterday which are now wrapped.

Oh, I also need to write my card to dh

Finally all done!! Gonna do some Christmas sticker books and activities with the kids then it's a buffet tea and bedtime for them before the big man comes :)

Calm down. I just need to calm the fuck down then I'll be grand.

I got my Yorkshire puds and coffee so very -leased I’ve had my prawns dinner in about 45 minutes.
