Only me buying presents for dd

Christ I've just come from a thread detailing what people have got for their kids for Christmas and feel very inadequate! I thought I'd got lots but they put me to shame. It's just me and my dd with no family so I have to overcompensate. Made me sad on this thread to see that not only were the kids getting tons from their parents but also gifts from aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. Something my dd could only dream of.

@Thesearmsofmine are only poorer people allowed to post on Mumsnet then? No one can post a thread asking for gift ideas in the CHRISTMAS TOPIC or sharing what they've bought in case it might trigger a poor person?

Because that's what you're saying. And that's pretty patronising

Please do point out where I have said that? I would love to see the quote from myself where I have said that of anything close. Or is that another attempt to put words into my mouth again? It is getting pretty tedious now tbh. Post away about how much you have bought your kids by all means,I don’t really care as I don’t read them anyway (as I have pointed out several times) but it doesn’t stop me thinking that it is a crass thing to do.

Just me and DS OP. I don't feel like this though.

It's not about presents you can go out some where nice to watch a show, go do an activity or have a festive breakfast.

People who post lots of wrapped up presents must have bought cheap tat!

These arm's, I find the lists very helpful!

I don't think people are bragging.

One year I picked up two huge sacks from a freeclye pre Xmas clear out ( not all toy's were suitable), but she got slinky dog, huge set of lion king figure's ( that she then spent the whole of Xmas positioning them around the house), a keyboard and load's of other stuff...second hand /free..she was about 2 or 3.

I don't know if it's worse to have wealthy relatives who don't buy or even give a fiver or none..

Op my dm was sporadic with presents, it's everything else I remembered.... oranges, cloves, hanging decorations from the ceiling, quality street lights, music... candle's..
