I'd like to buy a really nice box of chocs for us to have in for Christmas. Something a bit special and very tasty. Any ideas folks? Budget not important.

Paul a Young fine chocolates shop.paulayoung.co.uk/

The salted caramels are divine and you will never look at a ferrero rocher again if you try the hazelnut pralines! The mixed assorted truffles also gorgeous

Yes! Those salted caramels are the best ever!!

Artisan du chocolat, beautiful, expensive chocolates in gorgeous boxes.

I have such cheap taste as I really love salted caramel Lindors and Ferrero Rocher 😂. I appreciate all of these suggestions though as they will be great if I need to buy a nice gift.

Noble and Stace - was given a couple of bars and it’s really quite special.

Booja-booja chocolate truffles!
They are dairy-free but you honestly wouldn't know! They're absolutely delicious!

Small independent chocolate shops can be really good. You often get to make your own box up, picking only the ones you like. You can go in earlier and just pick a few to sample and then go back and by a box closer to Christmas. It makes it worth the money because you only get the ones you like.

Leonidas chocolates are my fave.

Prestat are awesome but very expensive

Agreed

Not tried them yet, but I’ve been told by family that Neuhaus chops are to die for!

Personally I love Hotel Chocolat and also routinely scoff a large box of Guylian Seashells every Christmas!

I second Oban Chocolates https://obanchocolate.co.uk/

and also highly recommend the amazing cocoa black chocolates https://www.cocoablack.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI75ag4Nrl-wIVgsLtCh3ZZQMPEAAYASAAEgKgsDD_BwE

Paul A Young or Alain Ducasse.

I was recently given a box of pine cone shape chocolates from m+s, filled with caramel and dusted with white sugar. They looked all snowy and tasted amazing. I felt they were really special. Don't know what they cost.

Another vote for Audreys. Worth every penny, especially the coffee creams!

badbaduncle · 07/12/2022 20:33

Paul A Young is phenomenal! But order soon - they are sooooooo slow at delivering

Lauden! They're beautiful to look at and the flavours really pop. Definitely special. The kind to savour rather than stuff.

On the back of this thread, and your post in particular, I asked for a box of these for Christmas and they are delicious! Just had one and it was amazing! The tin they come is so lovely too. Having a think of what I can use it for afterwards

I don't want palm oil.

So unfortunately I spent a lot of money in a small independent shop and then found out they did use Palm oil.

I just don't like that slimy taste.

I ordered some Audrey of Brighton and inwas extremely happy with them. .

I'd like to try some other brand's but I always ask if they use Palm oil.

I find hotel Chocolat to be all fur coat and no Knickers.
