I love to take pics of our elf and see what everyone else has done for inspiration....possibly our last year as the kids are getting older 😥He's been coming for 8 years now, and is a huge part of the build up to Christmas. It's been a real love/hate relationship with the little bastard!

I've deliberately put this in the Christmas topic as I know that Elf on the shelf can be a bit marmite on MN.

I could do with some inspiration so will join in too! I'm on year 10 I think 🤦‍♀️ My older kids are 14 and 10 so outgrown it now, but my little one is 4 so is full of excitement for the elf! The prospect of several more years of it is slightly daunting!

Fell asleep, and woke up at 3:30 in a panic.... The bastard elf is meant to arrive in the morning with the calendars! Had to send husband very stealthily into the loft to retrieve elf, and then couldn't find the sodding advent calendars that I'd obviously hidden so well. I was in tears half an hour ago.... Calendars finally located and quick note from elf written... Don't know why I do this to myself every year, it always causes so much drama, and frequent nudges in the night of "have you remembered to do something with the little gobshite?!" Day one and he's already reduced me to tears. God, the kids love him though, and it does make December magical, if a hell of a lot more stressful!

Don’t forget to delete photos from your camera roll if like mine your kids have a tendency to go through them all!!

He just brought the advent calendars today, an extra 24 hours to think of some mischief for him to get into!

Aaaaaaaghh.....mini disaster! The lazy elf forgot to hide his shopping bag from Home and Bargain ....so the next few pranks/challenges have been found....

The kids have decided it was his luggage!

They KNOW it wasn't me as I hate finding nut shells all over the place and have refused to buy them the last few shopping trips!

Teen DDs have taken over Elf for DD6 this year We were up and out by 7:30am today (I work long hours) so no fancy breakfast here.

They decided to combine the Elf with the activity/book advent we do.

My DS had his birthday this week and our elf got into a bit of trouble with some balloons!

I’ve just bought our first elf. Youngest DC is, erm, 11 years old. So doubt it’ll be quite as magical as the littlies! But I figured no one is too old to enjoy some silly elf pranks.

Ours has been terrorising the dog, up to no good with the fairy from the tree (😉), and hanging upside down in the tree. The bought baby DD some reindeer rattle socks on the 1st.
