How are you all getting on?

I had a really good couple of weeks and then came to a halt! Going to make another dent in it today though, between going to the local retail park and an online shop tonight Smile

Then will start wrapping maybe next week I think.

How's everyone else doing? Are you all smug and finished?

I’ve had a bumper this week…. Should be done really although I have a feeling I may send a few bits back that were impulse purchases 😁

Hoppinggreen · 29/11/2022 09:52

I am actually quite smug.
I have bought most presents and me and DH are going shopping next Saturday to finish the job (he will need frequent snacks but will generally behave if we have a nice boozy lunch and don’t spend too long in one shop and he’s allowed in The Apple Store)
However, both my DC have Birthdays in December and so I need to sort all that out too

PuttingDownRoots · 29/11/2022 09:55

Starting wrapping tomorrow
Just waiting for payday to finish shopping
Doing rhe furniture rearranging ready for tree today

OnAStarryNight · 29/11/2022 11:02

Pretty much done on the present buying front, may get a few extra stocking fillers for DH. Mostly shopped early and online this year due to being heavily pregnant and now having a 1 month old DD! Dreading the card writing and wrapping though, which is a shame as I usually love it. Just don't have the time! Think DH will need to do more this year, so I have to let it go when the wrapping isn't as neat and tidy as I would like😂

I'm so excited for Christmas though, can't quite believe it's my first one as a mum.

garlictwist · 29/11/2022 11:05

I have done absolutely nothing! Usually sort it all out the week before. It willl get done.

Peridot1 · 29/11/2022 11:11

I’m struggling. I don’t have that many to buy for but am stuck for ideas.

Have ordered DH some boots for gardening etc.
will get him some whiskey and wine gums and a chocolate orange
No other ideas

DS is 21 and needs nothing and has just bought a load of new clothes. He did say he’d like a pair of trainers so I’m waiting for him to send me a link for them
Might get him the new version of Monopoly.

Have sis, BIL and niece and nephew coming for new year so need presents for them. Nephew is done. Niece is 13 and not a girly girl - have ordered a set of Anime postcards for her but am stuck otherwise. Sis I’m not sure yet - maybe some skincare or smellies. No idea for BIL.

mam0918 · 29/11/2022 11:22

Im getting there, got to pick a few things up, buy the one or two little things left for the kids and a few things for family then the generic stuff like crackers but mostly done.

squeakyheart · 29/11/2022 11:35

I've taken a couple of days of to try to get started catch up. So far I've cleaned behind the sofa which is where I stashed the cards and wrapping paper last year😊 I've started a list (and will check it twice) but should get off my arse to go buy an elf as older DD has officially declared younger DD old enough to have her own. This has completely blown my plans of just getting away with one oh and I'll pick up some pancakes just in case I am stupid enough to do a North Pole breakfast ( I am such a sheep)!

Stompythedinosaur · 29/11/2022 11:40

I'm more or less done with gifts - just debating between a board game or a Japanese knife for dbro and then I'm done.

I need to wrap, which will take ages. Hoping to find a half day I can take off work for this!

Most of my decs are up but we will get the tree on Thurs. Need help from dp to hang the final set of outdoor lights up as he needs to hold the ladder. Might do that this weekend.

I haven't done a final meal plan yet, but have ordered the beef which will be our main course.

I need to write a treasure hunt for new years day as this is our tradition.

I need to erect our new coal bunker and make sure this is fully stocked.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 29/11/2022 11:41

Wrapped about 2/3rds. Need to buy a few boxes of choccys and snacks. Bought Christmas cards but haven't written them, apart from Oz one which was posted yesterday.

Cleaner booked for December, turkey ordered and tesco food shop booked for 23rd.

DC Christmas jumpers ordered. Still waiting for one to arrive.

Tree going up on Sunday.

I've got 3 days off next week. So might spruce myself up this year too, though I am full of cold and quite knackered right now!

All in all not too shabby at all.

ThreeRingCircus · 29/11/2022 11:45

I'm pretty organised this year!

Presents are all bought..... need to start wrapping but I find them harder to store once wrapped so I need to work out a plan for that.

Food almost all bought other than the main meat and veg for Christmas dinner. I've just had a festive morning making up pigs in blankets for the freezer, feeding the Christmas cake and straining the cranberry gin that I made back in September.

Decorations will be going up this weekend.

Then just need to write the Christmas cards! I'll probably do that soon as with royal mail strikes goodness knows how long cards will take to get delivered.

AdoraBell · 29/11/2022 11:54

As I only buy for DDs, 2 of, and DH I’m done. Yesterday DH said we need to start getting presents.

We bought lights for the tree, talked what I want and that was it. He always buys the presents for his family.

I have yet to start on wrapping and writing cards. Need to get a gift box next week.

Food wise I already have biscuits, chocolates, shop bought cake and panettone. Pigs in blankets in freezer. Booked a delivery for Christmas grocery order.

Just need to sort the decorations and tree, we’ll put them up next week.

Hope everyone’s plans go well ☕️Brew 🍷

CoffeeChocolateWine · 29/11/2022 12:53

My shopping is done and so far no twitching temptations! I still need to take my DCs Christmas shopping to buy the gifts they want to buy for each other and my DD has far to many a few friends she wants to buy for. Trying to rein her in!

On the wrapping front, I've wrapped all the big presents as they're not quite so well hidden so need wrapping straight away in case of snoopers! I still need to wrap the stocking bits (but they won't be found).

Rudolphscarrot · 29/11/2022 17:27

I'm getting there but I set myself a target of November which I'm clearly not going to meet.

DS is more than done. Really must not get him anything else!!!
DD is also done but if I see any nice clothes I may get them (she needs the next size up anyway. Bloody babies and their growth spurts!)
DH I have his main gifts but need to get something from the kids. No idea what!
DM - I have one thing but need something else
DB - done bar some sweets
DPIL - need to get. Again, no idea!
DSIL x 3 done
DBIL - no idea. DH can be in charge of this one!!!
DAunts x 2 done
Nieces and nephews x 6 almost done. Need one gift and a stack of chocolate.
Then I just need some biscuits or something for nursery and a voucher for a friend's son and then that's it!

Missingpate · 29/11/2022 18:09

Shopping complete apart from whatever book db wants, he has yet to tell me, to go with his chocolate, and need to pick up a dressing gown or similar for dfil. Tomorrow will start wrapping and hiding while ds is at school, and have to get all this done on the few weekdays off I have before we go skiing on 16th. As we don’t get home until late Christmas Eve it all has to happen early or it doesn’t happen at all! Tree will go up this weekend. Feeling a bit stressed but also like it’s do-able… might not feel the same come mid December!

Roselilly36 · 29/11/2022 18:30

Getting there, I don’t have many people to buy for now, sadly. My advice would be to wrap as you go, rather than end up like I did one Xmas Eve, staying up very late to get the wrapping done, never made that mistake again! 😂

Peridot1 · 29/11/2022 19:41

Writing stuff down on this thread helped me focus a bit earlier so I did a bit of a blitz. DH had some books on his Amazon wish list so I got those plus his favourite whiskey. And I made the Christmas cake.

Inasec24 · 29/11/2022 20:12

Not finished, but shopping trip and wrapping session planned for tomorrow as it is my day off. Then I will be finished. Sainsburys delivery slot booked and shop updated, so it is just the last gifts tomorrow.

ListenLinda · 29/11/2022 20:21

Finished for the kids, apart from new pjs. Got majority of DHs, need to get him the game he wants for his playstation. Finished for my Mum, got my Dads stocking filler, need to get his voucher. Doing hampers for siblings & partners, but that can be done when I get paid again next week.
So, I would say 60% of the way done.

But I am also doing my Nans xmas shoppjng, which is probably 40% done 😂

HintofVintagePink · 29/11/2022 20:33

A few decorations out. Tree and outside lights being put up on Saturday.
DC’s Christmas pyjamas and Advent calendars ready for Thursday morning (with ready to bake cinnamon rolls waiting in the fridge)
Food delivery booked (although panicking they substitute loads!)
Outfits planned and appointments booked.

Need to get a few smaller gifts and secret Santa present.

I have a day off tomorrow so can get lots done. I like to be ready for December 1st as far as I can, then I can just enjoy the season.

Poppins17 · 29/11/2022 21:09

I’ve bought and wrapped everything for family and friends.

Still have DH stocking to do and if there’s anything he sees on a trip before Christmas I may wrap for him.

I was super organised this year as have such a busy month… next Wednesday is my only free night with no plans between now and 20th December 🤪

Good luck everyone!

ChristmasCwtch · 29/11/2022 22:08

Cards posted, house cleaned and decorated, presents all bought. I’ve got 2 click n collects to pick up tomorrow and will finish all of the wrapping tomorrow night. Then I’m free and easy for the whole month of December 👏

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 29/11/2022 22:11

Pretty much done, waiting on some deliveries and few possibilities still on the list if I get a good offer but none strictly necessary…
rex london if I can find a code for at least free delivery
nail wraps
Ariana grande cloud perfume small size
Calvin Klein boxers

could be talked into an Apple Watch if there was a good deal

feeling pretty organised

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 29/11/2022 22:28

Completely done all wrapped. In piles for each family ready to distribute.
All food got except cheeses etc. No dinner stuff to get as out xmas and boxing day. Xmas eve is take away.

Now to relax and enjoy the lead up to it

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 29/11/2022 23:17

I would have been smug and finished,... until Black Friday when I purged.
so waiting for final 2 to arrive to wrap. And then in the last week of school I need to wrap dds scooter as it’s to cold where I’m storing it to do it any sooner.
