thank you @buckeejit and @evtheria i'll have a think about a cheap smartphone. The reason I thought about an echo dot is that we already have one in the living room. it's connected to my phone. so I thought maybe a second one that he can put in his hobby room would be a good idea.

Thanks, have just done this and they stacked. JEWELS also stacked for free delivery. Lovely £45 earrings for my mum for £16.50. Will also get 6% cashback via quidco.

I can’t get the codes to stack, so disappointed!

NoSquirrels · 24/11/2022 17:44

A cheap smartphone with an Alexa Dot would be good, because with a smartphone he can have both the library app like Borrowbox and Audible.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 24/11/2022 17:50

My photobox easel calendar has just arrived (via Amazon?!) Just as good quality as last years. Shame they don't send them in a christmassy box but that is just me being ultra fussy 😂

Irritatedmum · 24/11/2022 17:54

I’ve just ordered from Hype, some good stuff on there - bought a KFC bag for my nephew 😂. They give a 10% code on their website for Black Friday but a quick google search found a 15% off (DMHYPE15). Came to just I’ve £13 delivered.

You will need a different account if you have already used a birthday code on yours.

handmademitlove · 24/11/2022 18:24

You can listen to audible on alexa without needing a phone - if it is connected to your amazon account. Spotify also has audio books on it and again can be connected to alexa. It works online, not just as a speaker connected to a device.

Lochjeda · 24/11/2022 18:25

Hi does anyone know if Curry's ever do discount vouchers/codes?

snowmanshoes · 24/11/2022 18:26

@Withholdingvitalinfothank you so much for the sour patch kids heads up - kids will be so thankful!! Thank you 😊

PeppaPigWorld · 24/11/2022 18:27

@Confusedmeanderings

I think the set-up you suggest would work fine actually without the need to buy another phone. If you buy your dh an echo dot but just link it to your account, then once he's downloaded whatever audiobooks he wants, then he doesn't need access to your phone - he can just ask Alexa to play whatever audiobook he wants. At least that's how I do it with the dc!

applepinkierainbow · 24/11/2022 18:28

@Confusedmeanderings we bought my children these which allowed us to load up Audible stories (which had been bought on my account) and they have worked really well. We have also uploaded music onto them: Deal of the day: SanDisk Clip Sport Go 32GB MP3 Player - Red amzn.eu/d/1y0X0c2

Also, for the pp who was looking for merino thermals, Aldi do some really good ones. Not sure when their next ski event is, but definitely worth looking out for. They are great for anyone who spends time outdoors in the winter.

Anyone looking for plastic free stuff, bath bombs, shower steamers, eco stuff then have a look at honestlyeco.co.uk/
Some fab Xmas deals although the Grinch bath bomb is currently sold out 😭

Oh my gosh, Honestly Eco is AMAZING!!!!

It totally fulfilled what I was after for my teen son ('natural' toiletry products) with the massive added bonuses of being plastic free, vegan and hugely discounted.

I've created my own bundle for him with a shampoo bar, face mask, spot treatment, face cleansing bar, deodorant, bamboo comb and bamboo face cloth for about £20. (and then might have added some stuff for myself as well 😁)

A lot of stuff is at 50% off today plus you get another 30% off if you sign up for their newsletter (which I did). Free delivery over £20.

Perfect gifts for eco-conscious teens, vegans and folks into natural products 😍

Thank you thank you @TheContinentalHotel !!
(and thanks to everyone else who suggested possible toiletry brands too, I'm afraid I didn't get to them after looking at this website)

I swear I don’t work for Quidco (although I do appreciate people using my referral!) but it’s 20% cashback at Nike today and the code is on there so won’t invalidate the cashback.

If you go through TCB claim for the higher amount, screenshot it from Quidco.

Great tip. I eventually got through TCB - total pfaff- and had forgotten I'm already a member using an older email 🙈. Got a hoodie and matching bottoms for £62 (originally £140!) and free delivery. 12% TCB is decent on top of that.

Do you mean I should screenshot Quidco offer and contact TCB asking them to match it? Would that work?! I know I cant have accounts with both companies, you see.

DH has just said he's going to leave all his shopping to me! A compliment, but not sure if that means more work for me in reality !🙄

NightOwl101 · 24/11/2022 18:41

Has anyone seen any discount codes or bargionous crocs in a size 2 by any chance?

MadeForThis · 24/11/2022 18:42

Hype 20% off code.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 24/11/2022 18:47

Tech help needed!

My hard to buy for BIL showed interest in podcasts I was talking about recently. What would he need to have in the house to listen to BBC Sounds? I listen via my Smartphone in the house/ car connected via Bluetooth.

If his phone doesn't support apps (not sure how old it is) what would I buy to enable him to listen to podcasts at home?

TIA

A little random, any umbrella enthusiasts out there? My FIL is after a small umbrella with a "nice handle", something that would fit in his bag/work for business travel etc. Any ideas? (I don't use them as I'm always pushing a pram!).

Onceuponachime · 24/11/2022 18:54

This chocolate deal. It’s annoying me now. I don’t really need it but now I want it. But every time you guys get excited about it.. I go and can’t find the cheap price.. I’m not even sure what the cheap price is meant to be? But I like chocolate. 🍫🙄

LEGO 71764 NINJAGO Ninja Training Centre Masters Playset
amzn.eu/d/5Sit2Rl

I don't think this has been posted yet, this Lego set has a one of the tickable box vouchers that takes it down to £14.49 at the checkout

APotatoFlewAcrossTheRoomLastNightExcuseTheMess · 24/11/2022 19:01

@Onceuponachime £3.83! I've seen it so often I have it etched into my mind! 🤣 It is just a case of randomly checking throughout the day and getting it as fast as you can! Make sure you're on the £8 chocolate and scroll down to 'Other sellers', it will show there £3.83 then you need to buy it instantly. It goes in seconds so you really do need to be quick. It was shared to a Facebook group a couple of days ago so it's more popular than ever 🙈 I think I manage to get a bar 1 in 8 tries 🤣🙈

Still a bargain at £3.83 @APotatoFlewAcrossTheRoomLastNightExcuseTheMess but they have cottoned on as that has slowly gone up over this week. They were £1 less last week

Athlebad · 24/11/2022 19:06

@Yeknom

Mountain Warehouse site - one with a hook handle, but maybe a little long? £7.99 in sale.

John Lewis - this one is very sturdy with rubberised comfort-grip handle, £30
