Can anyone recommend a nice chess set? All the ones in my price range have poor reviews.

Room4onemore · 19/11/2022 16:29

My 16 year old ds has asked for some paint and paintbrushes for Christmas? Can anybody recommend any please

@TheHauntedPencilCase Amazon has the crane down at £23

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 19/11/2022 16:48

I get paintbrushes in tk maxx.
It depends what kind of paint.
GreatArt is a nice place to buy from, and CassArt.

Lewiscapaldiscat · 19/11/2022 16:51

@Notherereally1 i had the slipper but got rid of them - my toes were cold and it walking on platforms. Not the relaxed ideal.

spudsuliked · 19/11/2022 16:51

Thank you @Letthesunshineonin and @elevenduck I can't seem to find anywhere to put the promo code in which is the problem, I don't suppose either of you could message me with the link that you get? Thank you so much!

doctorboo · 19/11/2022 16:59

@Room4onemore I did a shop at (on?) Castle Arts yesterday so I could do the ‘spin wheel money off deal’ for acrylic paint in tubes for my older boys and acrylic paint pens for my younger son, they’re on Amazon too but I wanted the extra 10% off. I’ve gone for brushes and canvases from Amazon.

IsThisIt2021 · 19/11/2022 17:03

Thank you all for the timetables information.

He already gets the “buses” magazines, I’ve previously got him the yearbook books but 2023 isn’t out until after Christmas this year.
I got him the bus & underground Christmas sweater from the LTM website but didn’t think to look there for timetables.

Thank you to the couple of posters who said they’ll look and if they find any they will send, that’s very kind of you.

so pleased to learn I’m not the only one of this thread who’s child loves buses!

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 19/11/2022 17:08

Does anyone has a discount code for Joules that would work on sale please?

CarrotCarrotCucumber · 19/11/2022 17:13

@IsThisIt2021 sorry if this has already been said, but if you Google “European Rail Timetable”, you’ll get lists of stockists.
@Quarique , have you tried eBay for vintage?

I would but I haven’t a clue how to do that. I’ve had a look and it looks like you must go through the link to purchase them with the voucher

NormaSnickers · 19/11/2022 17:20

LemonFrosting · 19/11/2022 13:39

@NormaSnickers may I ask what the yearbooks are like please? I've googled but only showing front covers and no detail of the inside. Are there any pictures or is it all writing? I'm wondering if it'll be any good for my 4 year old bus enthusiast!!!

Lots of photos, think they’d be fine for your 4yr old! There’s a lot of writing too but I don’t think my 10yr old is bothered, he just likes to look at the photos!

spudsuliked · 19/11/2022 17:22

@Letthesunshineonin ah that's a bummer guess I just can't get it! Thought my sparks card might actually be useful Confusedthank you so much for trying for me!

WeAreTheWeirdosMister · 19/11/2022 17:23

@Room4onemore I recommend Artful boxes if you load the site it should come up with your first box for £20

Ithink the code was FB20

The gouche box is great, comes with paint, brushes, paper, instructions and links to follow along videos

Thank you @Lewiscapaldiscat I was gonna buy them for a present for MIL so thank you for the info, will keep my eyes open for another bargain instead

yoshiblue · 19/11/2022 17:38

@Quarique Is it for a child? We have a wooden chess and draughts set from Smyths Toys which is nice enough and about £12.

PassThePringles · 19/11/2022 18:05

I gave up on the elusive piss-taking Dairy Milk and got some Hair Milk instead! It's gone up since I bought it for £8 this morning though! Can't wait to smell it, thanks to whoever posted about it!

@spudsuliked I have pm'd you - re: my fair lady

LetterfromHermione · 19/11/2022 18:16

Thanks for all the ideas so far! Has anyone seen any deals or discount codes on a Nike tech fleece? I think my son will be slightly too big for the 12-13 max kids size so maybe a small mens but they’re £110 for a fleece!

Luckycatt · 19/11/2022 18:21

@LetterfromHermione footlocker have some colours of men's tech fleece in their Black Friday deals (online already).

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 19/11/2022 18:29

@IsThisIt2021 National Rail will print you one if you send them an email. Perhaps there is a favourite route of your child you could ask for maybe or one local to you
