Two. But I didn’t have to buy many in the first place and several of those are for DD’s upcoming 20th birthday.
I want to get her a latch hook kit. I am hoping for some recommendations on my Mumsnet thread.

And DH’s watch. DD is putting some money towards it so we are going to choose it together when she stops over on the 3rd/4th. Luckily despite us living in a small town our jewellers has a few contenders to choose from.

I have 2 other (now wrapped) presents for DH & 1 Christmas and 5 birthday presents for DD. I might keep one back so there are 3 Christmas presents. She will also get some from her Dad.

None, I've finished! Just wrapping to go

Ameanstreakamilewide · 11/11/2022 18:53

Only a couple, now.

I've left it to the last minute too many times in the past, which was pretty stressful. So now I start buying bits and bobs from about September/October.

Fifthtimelucky · 11/11/2022 19:01

I don't have as many presents to get these days. We have no parents and grandparents left. And we stopped buying for nephews, nieces and friends' children when they got to 18.

I haven't started on my husband yet. He's always the hardest. I still need some stocking fillers for the (adult) children and I need to get something for my daughter's boyfriend's parents. Otherwise I'm all done.

I'm done, going to start wrapping next week,

I'm expecting to start radiotherapy in December so it needed doing early this year.

To add, I don't buy for lots of people, and some of those are getting vouchers or gifts delivered directly.

GiltEdges · 11/11/2022 19:27

None. I did a huge blitz when I got paid at the end of October. Which seemed like a great idea at the time, however the prospect of wrapping everything that’s since arrived is decidedly unattractive 😩

CakeCrumbs44 · 11/11/2022 19:42

I've got a present for my nephew but have 4 nieces to buy for and no ideas yet. I know if I ask their parents now I'll just get a "they like everything" or "no idea yet it's only November" 🙄

Still need to buy for my in laws and my own parents. They're hard to buy for as already have everything and don't have any specific hobbies or interests which I could base it on. My Dad and MIL also have birthdays really close to Christmas so we have to think of something for that too!

How is everyone affording this.

There are a couple of threads around on how people are cutting back this year, bargains and deals.

People buying now are affording it by spreading the cost, rather than buying it all the week before Christmas when prices are at their highest and you don't have time to shop around..

And plenty of people are still comfortable despite rising cost of living.

RoonilWazlib21 · 11/11/2022 20:49

All done and wrapped apart from one thing I'm waiting on being delivered.

Have put £3.75 per week away since last year giving me £195 to spend on presents for my 2 DC (£70 each), DH (£25) and then £5 each on mum, dad and nephew leaving £15 for some wee extras like choc coins.

Well we are reasonably ok but I suppose it’s easier because we have so few people to buy for and don’t spend money on much else. Going out (except birthdays and anniversary) clothes, cosmetics, alcohol, hobbies etc we just don’t do any of that. But as it’s a smaller spend in the first place it makes it easier.
I suppose it’s different for everyone.

I hope it all goes well for you. Good luck with your treatment 🍀💕👍

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 11/11/2022 23:08

Just one more for my mum which I can’t buy until early December due to the returns policy of the company. Then I’ve gotta sort the cash for people I’m giving money to.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 11/11/2022 23:23

All of them. It’s the start of November and as I remember we don’t exchange gifts until the end of December. Having lost 2 people, vey close to me in the last 4 months I’m not counting any blessings until much nearer the time.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/11/2022 23:30

A few, although I've done quite a bit.

Still need to get phones for the dc, bit mainly done otherwise.

Am after an Ember mug for dp but wondering if they will be reduced on Black Friday.

Have no idea what to get dbro.

Need to do a photo calender for dm and dmil.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 12/11/2022 01:44

I start in September and buy each of 3DS's during the 3 months
I've done DS1 and 2( plus a birthday)
DS1 has no idea what he wants
I'll pick up a bottle of gin for my friend with the food shop
Have decreased their budgets this year, but they're all adults now

1stTimeMama · 12/11/2022 01:59

All of them, 5 children, husband and my parents. I do get quite a lot for them, I never start this late, I've no list and I'm feeling very disorganised and it's very unlike me to have got to this point of the year and be so far behind!

Fritilleries · 11/11/2022 18:30

How is everyone affording this.

I look for bargains, very rarely pay full price, save money, usually buy when I see things regardless of the time of year, use TooCashback for as many online purchases as possible and my husband is paid well.

I think you need nerves of steel to not do any before December!

DearBangtan7 · 12/11/2022 02:39

5 more gifts to pick up, I'm also planning on having them all wrapped by no later than December 1st 🤞

thaegumathteth · 12/11/2022 03:05

Darbs76 · 12/11/2022 07:00

Everything, only thing I’ve bought is tickets to crimecon 2023 for my eldest and I. No idea what to get people as usual. Next to start, might do some online browsing later

How is everyone affording this.

I put money aside every month for Christmas, also for peoples birthdays, so the cost is spread across 12 months not a couple. Obviously still need the money to put aside, but it really does help to spread the cost. Fortunate to have been promoted too this year, so have a good pay rise which helps. Christmas costs me at least £1200 though, I am going to try and bring the cost down this year

SundayAtDevilDirt · 12/11/2022 07:05

DC, DH, DM done.

Just dad, sister, nan, God children and a secret santa for our close friendship group to go, plus DH will sort SIL & BIL.

caringcarer · 12/11/2022 07:24

To buy for DH, 3 adult dc dd, ds1, ds2, ds1gf, foster son, 2 X dgs.

Have bought little so far foot spa for ds1gf. Huge Lego model for ds1. Box of good quality cricket balls for foster son.

DD is supposedly going to tell me what to get 2 x dgc. I will chase her tomorrow.

I have got all a Toblerone and chocolate orange to go in stockings. I got perfume for ds1gf for stocking and hand cream.

I am planning a weekend of shopping.

OldTinHat · 12/11/2022 07:26
