£10 Secret Santa

I’m in three different Secret Santas this year, all set at £10 each…all female, but I don’t know the recipients as they’re going im a sack. So need something nice but generic. Everything I’m looking at on Amazon seems so…well, boring! The only thing I liked really was a box of Space Masks (cheaper versions) that seems quite nice, but I’m seeking inspiration! Any ideas anyone? 🎅🏼😊

Candles

Istolethecookies · 02/11/2022 17:47

I just go to B&M for secret santa. Get a mug with some chocolate, a candle, hot water bottle with fluffy socks, gin sets (if they drink).

user267451 · 02/11/2022 17:48

Nice Christmas tree decoration

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 02/11/2022 17:54

Candles is a nice idea. I don’t think I could do hand cream as one of the women on one of the groups has very bad eczema and I’d hate her to pick it out and not be able to use it …which knowing my luck would happen! Christmas ornament is a nice idea too…and yes, as far as I’m aware, everyone drinks alcohol! Thanks everyone so far…

I would buy whatever you would love to recieve as a gift, and if the recipient doesn't like it, you could offer to swap with the gift you get.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 02/11/2022 17:58

Initial mug and posh coffee/chocolate/tea bags/drink of choice

IceCreamWithSprinkles · 02/11/2022 18:05
  • £5 travel mug and £5 Costa voucher
  • a nice notebook and pen set
  • diffuser
  • pretty plant pot
I’d def avoid smelliest if one of them has wczema
IceCreamWithSprinkles · 02/11/2022 18:06

Doh!! smellies eczema

£10 note in an envelope of gift box
It will be the most popular gift received.

Needmorelego · 02/11/2022 18:11

I don't know what a space mask is so couldn't say if I would like that 😂
I'd be happy to receive something like a Christmasy novel (they're usually a bit cheesy but easy to read) and a little box of chocolates/choc Santa.

Medoca · 02/11/2022 18:14

Not a mug!! Most people have mugs they like and certainly don’t need a novelty/initial/festive mug. Especially initial as you can’t regift!! Consumables are the best, less waste. If they drink booze is good as a perfect regift/take to a party if you don’t like it.

AriettyHomily · 02/11/2022 18:14

Agree wrap up a tenner, most of the stuff mentioned here would sent straight to the charity shop.

This! Or a gift voucher for M&S/costa etc

Not a mug, noone wants more mugs.

GetOffTheRoof · 02/11/2022 18:22

My lot are getting a Percy Pig cake mix in a bottle from M&S. Those Blondies are to die for. They can bake them whenever suits them then. There's a Colin Caterpillar brownie one as well. Mmmmmm.

God not a bloody voucher... they are always for awkward places I dont shop and never the right amount for anything I want (who can be arsed keeping track of how much is left on cards and Im not deliberately spend more just to use it).

Novelty games usually go down good as a generic gift and cheap, things like desktop duck shooting, poo head, whats that smell etc... stuff that can be used there and then as a fun group thing.

You'll never please everyone though, example based on me:

I have no use for:

Vouchers (as above)
Creams (very personal)
Masks (im not that type, I have 2 face scrubs that are more than enough)
Socks (dont wear them)
Plants (do not buy me another living thing I have to care for)
Bauble (have plenty and they all go together)
Book (dyslexic so cant read block texts)
Mug (got to many and dont use them)
Defuser (toxic to cats)
Nail polish (got loads, rarely wear it and only wear 1 kind)
and I have allergies so food is risky.

I wouldnt mind:

Alcohol (whiskey, rum maybe vodka or irish cream but not wine or beer/larger/ale)
Vanilla or coconut candle (nothing spiced as its an instant migraine)
Stationary is dull but fine

Its actually pretty hard to get a generic gift for a stranger, £10 plenty if you know someone (example: Barbara might love sheep themed anything but is teetotal, Susan might be crazy for fluffy toe socks but hate scary thing, Sarah might be obsessed with stranger things but is vegan, Caroline could have a thing for posh gin but isnt an animal lover type and Louise is a foody who wouldnt be seen dead in non designer clothing... be pretty hard to mix and match gifts among them blindly even though you could find something for each of them indervidually) but imposible blindly.

petitdonkey · 02/11/2022 19:55

@Tintackedsea - I never would have thought of olive oil but would be delighted if I received it. What a lovely idea. Ditto a house plant. You win a 🎅🏾

dementedma · 02/11/2022 19:58

Secret Santas are often tat as pps have said. Our work has decided this year to buy a tenners worth of stuff each for the foodbank instead. However, if you cant get out of it,lots of good ideas upthread.

10 x Lotto Scratchcards

Arenanewbie · 05/11/2022 18:19

Maybe a small bottle of sweet dessert wine or liquor?
make up, perfume, skincare are all very personal. And lots of people (more then MN can imagine) don’t use candles, diffusers and ornaments.
