INTRODUCTION

Nigel begins his Chronicles proper on 1st November, but there is a lovely, quite lengthy introduction we can dip into during the second half of October.

Last year, posters were also kind enough to share where they had found cut price copies of CC, so hopefully anyone late to the party still has time to find a copy before we start the first chapter.

I had forgotten the lovely introduction. Together with the beautiful photograph at the very beginning of the book, flipping through it and seeing his headings reminded me of why I loved it so much last year!

@picklemewalnuts I like your style with the truffles! 😂

We'll need a new thread soon - only about 20 more posts to go on this one.

The afternoon didn’t go quite as planned...so no mince pies.

But I did make Nigel’s black pudding and baked apple with celeriac and mustard mash. I made a couple of changes - I didn’t whip the mash. I also added frikadeller (danish pork meatballs, fried in butter).

Have lit the first candle and am going to read today’s chapter now.

I have just caught up with the past week of CC, very very slowly as I have a migraine brewing just in time for work tomorrow 😢 I will catch up with the thread (and possibly the start of thread 2) tomorrow after school.

My shelf is almost done - I'm considering something small under the dish of chestnuts that are waiting for me to roast them, to lift it so you can see it's pattern. And my glassware hasn't come down from the loft yet so the tray is still to be edited a bit, but I'm pleased so far.

Apologies if this was presumptuous, but I've taken the liberty of starting a new thread as I couldn't bear to run out of space on this one and lose you all. Follow the link here:

I'm glad, @LillianGish ! Can you do the daily headings? They'll show up so much better from the OP. Mine have been distinctly lacklustre with the bold fails, but I seem to have been generally earliest to the thread.

LillianGish · 28/11/2022 09:49

Big responsibility @picklemewalnuts - I'll do my best!
