Christmas food to order slots are open 🎄

GF selection is not great. Same chocolate log as last year! I’m sure my MIL would like a bit of variety!

Sisisimone · 28/09/2022 10:11

I think this will be the first time in many years I don't order from M&S this year. Selection on offer is really poor, especially veg and starters. I'm normally able to order everything for Xmas dinner but not even close this year. Think will order the meat from a local butcher and just do a supermarket run for the rest

TheRubyRedshoes · 28/09/2022 20:10

I'm struggling to see what things look like.

I like the "sound" of the dome but for 35 it's incredibly expensive and I can only see one picture??

One?

Also the trifle looks fab but it says 15?on ocado it's 6 and has dreadul review?

Deguster · 28/09/2022 20:16

Another one who couldn’t check out yesterday and yet by tonight all the Xmas Eve slots at my local food store have gone. Grr.

v uninspired this year imo. I’ve give that white choc helter skelter cake a whirl - mainly because it looks so bland autistic DS might actually eat it.

Timeforabiscuit · 28/09/2022 20:17

For fucks sake, I was looking forward to Christmas shopping on ocado because I get it all from m and s every year, got my slot but I can't even be arsed to put sprouts in 😞

Mumski45 · 30/09/2022 14:02

Can't wait for this one.

Is anyone else disappointed with the desserts on offer?

Martinisarebetterdirty · 01/10/2022 12:12

No cauliflower cheese sold separately from the veg selection either, absolutely gutted as we don’t want the other stuff. Very small selection this year.

pantsville · 01/10/2022 12:31

Yes I’ll be making my own roast potatoes but I’d still like to be able to order the cauli cheese so that rules that out. I also never like having to buy pigs in blankets with an equal amount of those very rich pork stuffing balls. My family might eat one or two stuffing balls but can put away unlimited pigs in blankets! Mixed selections have their place but being able to order the individual components would be appreciated.

I might have to leave it for this year sadly, not worth the hassle of collecting for how much we’d buy.

Ohyoudodoyou · 01/10/2022 13:02

I was going to start a post last night about this.

A pisspoor vegetarian vegetable selection for £26. It was £15 3 years ago.
For the first time ever I won't be heading to M and S to load up this year. I messaged them about this as it's completely unjustified to charge that amount for some cauli and spuds.

TeaMistress · 01/10/2022 15:37

Not keen on either the Sainsburys or M&S offerings. Both seem very limited in selection and M&S look outrageously expensive. Are they seriously trying to charge £35 for the globe dessert and £28 for the lacklustre vegetable selection. I will be ordering from the local butcher instead as they are doing a fab Christmas hamper with fresh farm veg included.

Can't wait for this one.

I fantasised over the Booths catalogue last year, even though I don’t have a Booths within 200 miles. So envious of those who can shop there.

Ineedwinenow · 01/10/2022 23:06

I got a slot and than gave it up as the selection is rubbish! We always have an M&S party food Xmas eve buffet and there’s not a great choice! also I know everything is going up but the lobster they have on there is ridiculously priced, much cheaper to go to a fish mongers 😱

Catonthedesk · 01/10/2022 23:21

I'm either easily pleased or everyone else in here is very fussy! I've booked a slot, whooshed through and got some gorgeous Christmas food, thank you for the reminder!!

LooneyToon · 01/10/2022 23:30

Overpriced. I have booked with Sainsbury's this year to try it out. Seems more reasonable and better options for us.

KermitlovesKeyLimePie · 02/10/2022 12:12

As others have stated this is the first year we won't be ordering from that poor choice.

Are they putting more on or is that it?

For those considering the lobster starter ie: the halves, we had them last year and they were very underwhelming, way overpriced and tasteless, so disappointed.

Ironically all the Christmas Eve slots are available at my local store still so am guessing that maybe others are feeling the same indifference.

On a brighter note I have got an Ocado Christmas Eve slot for the first time ever, so that's a win!

Currently holding 3 bottles of jack daniels and a bag of jelly babies in my trolley😄

Currently holding 3 bottles of jack daniels and a bag of jelly babies in my trolley

One year, in the thick of toddlers and babies, my forgotten Christmas delivery shop arrived, complete with nothing more useful than the holding shop of two bottles of Champagne and one solitary carrot (for Rudolph). 😳

Mumdiva99 · 02/10/2022 15:24

I've got my m&s via ocado booked. Was too poor last year ti get anything I fancied. This year I'm treating us to a few bits....slow cooked shin of beef. Delicious. Just arranged to entertain on 27th so might add a bit more....but I'm always worried about the dates on things not lasting.

Mumdiva99 · 02/10/2022 15:25

Oh, and I have got cauliflower cheese.... could see upthread some were saying it wasn't available.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2022 15:37

I bloody love Booths' Christmas food. It's my annual treat!

Anjo2011 · 02/10/2022 15:40

Nothing to tempt me either. I wonder why the selection is so poor this year. This will be the first time in many years that I don’t order. I will get my turkey from a local butcher and buy other bits as and when.

Ladymama12 · 09/10/2022 10:28

Ive never ordered in advance before. Do u select and pay then it gets delivered on your chosen date? Question.. In your opinion what is better ocardo or the actual m&s for xmas food shoppin?
Tx

FourTeaFallOut · 09/10/2022 10:50

You select what you want, pay £40 deposit, collect it in store at your chosen time and pay the remaining balance then.

Ladymama12 · 09/10/2022 10:54

@FourTeaFallOut thank you xxx

FourTeaFallOut · 09/10/2022 10:57

I can't help with the second question because our particular Ocado delivery is absolutely atrocious and I wouldn't trust it with our Christmas dinner.
