What do children use alexas for?

We don't have any alexas, but I imagine my DC (8,6) would love them.

We have prime music. Could they each play music in their own rooms?

What else do similar aged children use them for?

In my experience, asking it to do endless fart noises. 🙄

RightOnTheEdge · 21/09/2022 17:32

Yeah, mine sometimes listen to music but mostly just getting her to do fart noises 😒🙄

PuttingDownRoots · 21/09/2022 17:35

Intercom. Alarm. Timer. Radio. Music. Quizzes. Asking random questions

RebeccaCloud9 · 21/09/2022 17:42

Farts and burps (ds5)

PuttingDownRoots · 21/09/2022 17:43

In case uts not obvious... all of ours are in Child safe mode so you can't buy stuff through them.

Nadal · 21/09/2022 17:44

Music, jokes, spellings, dictionary

Lucy Long Socks · 21/09/2022 17:44

Annoying Alexa. Annoying our cat. A calculator. A timer/alarm. Music. Lights.

abovedecknotbelow · 21/09/2022 17:44

Music, alarm as, asking her to fart, jokes, weather

BeanieTeen · 21/09/2022 18:07

My 5 year old loves telling her to play farts at the moment…

itsgettingweird · 21/09/2022 18:17

"Make fart noises" according one of my pupils when I stupidly asked 🤣🤣🤣🤣

wishingitwasfriday · 21/09/2022 18:19

mumda · 21/09/2022 18:21

@Dannexe house intercoms?

Soproudoflionesses · 21/09/2022 18:22

My dd always asks Alexa to tell her a fact.
Also as an alarm clock and plays music . Loves it

ReadyForPumpkins · 21/09/2022 18:28

Mine turns their lifts on and off, set timers for homework, ask stupid questions and get announcements from me from downstairs.

ReadyForPumpkins · 21/09/2022 18:28

I mean turns the lights on and off.

mumda · 21/09/2022 18:21

@Dannexe house intercoms?

Yes you can drop in in a room and have a discussion or make an announcement to a particular room or to the whole house. It’s significantly reduced my screeching at the dc..

Favouritefruits · 21/09/2022 18:55

Homework… Alexa what’s 13x67

Lostmyunicorn · 21/09/2022 19:05

Can I ask a stupid question as an Alexa novice - what do I need to buy to have a master Alexa in the kitchen and then two for the kids rooms where they can have different music / audiobooks playing simultaneously and separate alarms etc. is that three individual Alexas or can you get a kind of bundle?

scrivette · 21/09/2022 19:24

Playing favourite songs
Asking what the animal of the day is
Asking what the fact of the day is
Asking her to sing happy birthday
Making up ridiculous lengthy shopping lists with random items such as tigers and poo.

You just need three echo dots

BillyWilliamTheThird · 21/09/2022 19:34

Kids use it for: fart noises, comedy announcements, playing music (can Bluetooth from phone and use like a speaker if you don’t want Unlimited Amazon Music), cheating on homework, calling people via phones, calling your own phone when you’ve lost it🙄, endless reminders for everything, stupid songs about dogs, jokes, white noise for sleep, any digital radio station you fancy.

Personally I love the way I can just tell it my shopping list items over the week and how it stops me from being a shouty parent in our house with thick walls. It’s a good couple of years since I’ve yelled “Diiiiiinnnnneeeerrrr” five times at the top of my voice.

I also appreciate being able to control volume etc in all the Alexas from the app on my phone. And we all love Alexa plug sockets and the party light bulbs.

i don’t work for Amazon, promise.

Mummysharkargggggggg · 21/09/2022 19:37

My little minx asks Alexa for the answers to her maths homework 😳
Caught her in the act tonight the little monster 🤣 ( and I thought I was raising the next carol vorderman )

TheHoundsOfHell · 21/09/2022 20:49
