Just that really!! We’ve just bought a new house. Old tree was DHs choice and a bit too sparse for my liking and unfortunately accidentally made its way into the “donate” pile during the move 😁🤣

So recommend me a beautiful new tree please 😊 Must be fuller than full 🤣 bonus points if you have pictures!!

Balsam Hill.
expensive but laats for donkeys years

Finawelesca · 18/08/2022 06:21

@User4223131 Balsam Hill but it is eye watering price wise. They always have sales on where it is far less money. I think I bought mine in either the September or October several years ago. If you want one join their mailing list to get notified of a sale.

I have the Royal Blue Spruce and if you fluff it correctly it is exactly like the photo on BH website. Completely dense and no gaps at all. There are branch fluffing videos by BH on how to do it and it it completely worth it. The storage bag that comes with it is massive so no struggle to put it away. The tree is very well made.

BH are the trees featured on daytime tv shows, Albert Hall etc.

I second Balsam Hill. I ummed and ahhed for years; even ordered the sample box ....which I also recommend doing as it changed my mind over which tree.
I did go for unlit as some of the reviews mentioned the stringing on the pre-lit ones wasn't always great.
It is full and it is big..and heavy. I have a 6.5ft one

It's a shame you can't wait until after Christmas, I bought mine at a local garden centre, it had been the display tree, so was half price and then some more knocked off for being the display... £60 down from £180!!

I got a fabulous one off very 2 years ago it's super bushy and about £150 for 6ft. It's one of those where the edge branches are realistic and the inner ones are a bit crapper but it bulls it out and you can't tell when the decs are on.

Balsam hill

mac1974 · 18/08/2022 10:19

We got a gorgeous one from John Lewis a couple of years ago

Bananaman123 · 18/08/2022 19:56

I’ve had a lovely full green one from Asda costing £20 and had it 23 years now. I also bought the same tree but with the snow for £30 couple of years ago and love it. Cheap but perfect size

Floralnomad · 18/08/2022 20:28

Balsam Hill , they really are excellent , we have a 7’ pre lit narrow fraser fir and a smaller alpine . You do have to take plenty of time with the fluffing it up particularly in the first year .

Balsam hill. It took all sorts of convincing dh to get on board with the price but it's so beautiful

princessbear80 · 18/08/2022 22:10

I bought this one a couple of years ago and I love it! It’s not the fullest, but quite realistic looking.

(That link is to the 6ft but we have the 7ft)

Seeing all these trees is getting me very excited 🌲

User4223131 · 18/08/2022 22:26

Thanks so much for all your recommendations 😊 I’m happy to pay for something that’s going to last us well so Balsam Hill looks like it could be a contender! I’m off to search for the sample box that’s been mentioned up thread 👍🏻 We get our keys next week and don’t currently have furniture that fits in the new house but the Christmas tree will be sorted so that’s fine, right?! 🤣🤣 priorities!!

We have a 6ft Norway spruce, usually £600 but got for £180 in their sale so keep a look out!

CoreyTaylorsbiggestfan · 19/08/2022 08:18

John Lewis! Beautiful 7 foot bushy tree

imagiantwitch · 19/08/2022 08:27

I’ve got this one- the ultra mountain pine 7ft from
christmastreeworld. It’s AMAZING

Balsam Hill usually have an extra 20% in November if you sign up to their newsletter. It’s a unique code and can be used in conjunction with sale and clearance prices. Had ours for a few years and is still one of my best purchases.

User4223131 · 20/08/2022 12:57

@imagiantwitch Lovely tree! Seen them recommended in a few other places too. I’ll go on and have a look 😊

@Thismonkeysgonetodevon Great tip about the discount! Thank you 😊 Might even be able to sneak in a Garland for the fireplace 😬

Nothing beats a real tree, not even your Balsam Hill

ThePumpkinPatch · 20/08/2022 13:08

M&S 7ft Pre-Lit £250! It's absolutely beautiful, the picture really doesn't do it justice 🎄

ThePumpkinPatch · 20/08/2022 13:10

Re: Balsam Hill, I've read some truly horrendous reviews about them.
The M£S tree has a thick steel rod down the middle and is nice & wide which is seemingly quite rare these days

Buildingthefuture · 20/08/2022 13:20

I’m another one for Balsam Hill. Utterly beautiful and last forever. Mine are pre lit and so easy to put up and take down. Horrendously, eyewateringly expensive, but if you buy them in summer they often have deals on. They are great if you have under floor heating too, which we do and it kills real Christmas trees!

Tuxedokitty · 24/08/2022 20:22

My John Lewis beauty, purchased very hastily the night we discovered my son is allergic to real ones!

@ThePumpkinPatch oh yours is gorgeous! I love a frosted tree

carwashthecat · 24/08/2022 20:28

Balsam Hill.. it is looked upon as a family heirloom ( due to how much it cost Grin).. both my kids will be fighting for it, when the time comes Wink
