in some respects I might be ahead - because we have Christmas dinner tomorrow. but I love lists. even other peoples.

my done list:

  • red cabbage is braised
  • parsnips are par-boiled and coated in parmesan and flour as per Delia
  • everything that needs to be is out of the freezer, including the stuffing and the chestnut loaf that I made about 2 weeks ago.
  • mince pies have been done for eons

my to do list:

  • update my to-do list (I told you I liked lists)
  • update my last minute shopping list
  • ice cake (will probably get that done tonight)
  • make some bruschetta (hopefully also tonight)
  • poach some pears
  • put cards up
  • do some decorations - candles and baubles "artistically" thrown into glass bowls and vases
  • pick meat up from butchers
  • boil bones for stock
  • mull wine
  • wrap presents

Still have some cleaning/tidying to do but not sure if I can be bothered. Did the tree and put up decorations this afternoon.
Have not yet wrapped a single present! But we only have small token gifts these days, so I'll chuck some wrappings on them some time tomorrow - hopefully before Ds and Dd arrive!

Quattrocento · 23/12/2007 21:43

my done list:

  • christmas cake is made
  • mince pies are made
  • everything that needs to be is out of the freezer
  • nearly all the presents have been bought and wrapped
  • the car is booked in for a service tomorrow

my to do list:

  • Leave DH in charge of children (there'll be tears ...)
  • take au-pair to station (on way to work)
  • deliver car to garage
  • go to work and finish a project off and do a conference call. Should only take 3 hours but will probably take 5
  • collect car
  • collect one last present
  • Get home and clean windows in dining room and living room
  • prepare ALL veg
  • stuff the meat with garlic
  • sort out the dining room (clean, set places, lay table, sort out decorations)
  • sort out spare bedroom for guests
  • collect guests from station
  • wrap three presents including the one I have hopefully collected
  • go to SIL's for dinner (remember champagne)
  • go to midnight mass after dinner

Lists can be therapeutic or daunting. Mine is a bit daunting TBH. It has huge potential for overruns

All done - but very, very bored now!!

Quattrocento · 23/12/2007 22:48

Joash there are so many things that need doing around here that I feel sure would alleviate your boredom.

I will provide wine ...

LowFat · 23/12/2007 22:52

And I absolutley dont need to buy anything else.. nothing, at all.

So I wish that when I walked passed shops their automatic doors would stay shut instead of opening and enticing me in!

Joash · 23/12/2007 22:54

Hi Quattrocento - wouldn't mind taking you up on that . But have a feeling we live hundreds of miles away from each other.
It's the first time EVER, that I've been this well organised for Chrissy.
