Presents left discarded for days

The pile of presents that SIL opened on Xmas day are still laying strewn where they were opened on Xmas day, untouched. I just can't get my head around the lack of care or organisation.
All my presents are sorted into a neat pile as they are opened, and then put into a bag or stored out of the way.
After 24h of her books, biscuits etc being stood on by excited children, I broke... and pushed them all together out of the way under the tree. They are still there, and clearly won't be moved until SIL leaves. AIBU to think people should take a bit more responsibility and care for their gifts?

You’re surprised that peoples brains don’t work the same as yours? Not everyone is super organised tidy and clean although I wouldn’t have left them strewn all over the room for more than a morning , they’d have been nearly put under the tree for her.
It's not about being organised, it's about being respectful to the effort other people have made to get you presents. I'm quite untidy and still think that leaving a brand new gift where it can be trodden on is horrible, even worse when it's in someone else's house.

I also think it’s rude to call OP ‘anal’ because she doesn’t want presents all over the floor. Ok, so some posters find it’s not relaxing to have to tidy up after themselves and some posters find a mess stressful. Neither is wrong, per se, but I do think if you’re a guest in someone else’s house at Xmas, you should try to avoid creating extra work or stress for your host.
Not just at Christmas, but I do agree with you!
