what you eating for boxing day?

we normally have left overs but have suggested family come to me

Ham glazed with something delicious
Crusty bread
Piccalilli
DH’s sausage rolls
Pigs in blankets
a Boxing Day batch of roast potatoes
Left over Brussels with chestnuts, pancetta and shallots
Posh crisps
Pickled onions
Chutneys
A very full cheese board....

I can’t wait Boxing Day is my favourite!!!

Traditionally our main meal is always cold turkey, home cooked ham, leftover chestnut stuffing, baked potatoes and salad. This year it's just DH and me so we aren't having the usual Christmas Day meal, we aren't having any sort of proper meal on Christmas Day - I am chucking some pork into the oven first thing in the morning and we are having slow cooked pork in rolls, hog roast style, at some time in the afternoon when we feel like it. However my husband really wants a roast so he will be cooking a turkey crown with associated vegetables and some sausages for decadence on Boxing Day..

Food.

A hyuuuuuge lasagne plus leftovers and a salad. Everybody helps themselves. I use the turkey roasting tray before it goes back into the furthest cupboard.

It’s a family tradition from when the healthy ones came back from a long Boxing Day walk and the unhealthy ones needed something stodgy to help with their hangover. It was also good for people dropping in.

Unfortunately those days are gone but the tradition remains…

As my son only has threes days off and has to leave on the 27th so I'm doing roast beef on Boxing Day. Normally our New Years Eve meal but he won't be around.
