Local M&S and Asda open at 6am tomorrow but is it too early to expect the veg, bread etc to last to Saturday? When are you doing your shop?

I would do most of it now and then do a late run for fresh stuff. We do that except the fresh stuff gets delivered. You don;t want to be doing it all at the end in case it is carnage.

I'm quite cba as well haha - me too!

Did mine today at 6am. It was empty (of customers) so was bliss. Surprised by people saying the veg wouldn't last from now unless talking about watery stuff like salad or spinach?

Not sure we have any 24 hour supermarkets round here - it's a semi-rural area. I almost always do the shop on the 23rd and it's horrible. Grin Though it would help if I really actually got there early - I always think I'm going to and then end up there at half nine...
This year with our new variant friend I just don't want to ... very tempting to wait until Christmas Eve when it'll be quieter, and maybe bag a half price turkey into the bargain.

Well it was quiet this morning and we needed to get actual food for this week too (I had this massive mental blank and though Xmas eve was Thursday...)

My cream and cheese all long dated to 26/27th so we are good. Veg all in fridge etc. So basically done.

So just meat on 24th now which is butchers not supermarket and can send dh to the coffee shop over the road to get me a festive drink whilst I queue (which is at least outside as actual shop tiny).

I went yesterday at lunch, and got milk, bread, cream etc all ok until 26th. So I also grabbed some veg and tonic, and cheese.

I will need more milk (they only had 4 cartons of the one DD and DH will drink - we'll get through those by thursday I reckon at the latest), and OJ (DD is drinking a carton every 2 days).

But I think, other than milk and bread, I have all I need. I'm trying to eat from freezer this week to make space. The random "1 Chinese dish, 1 portion indian curry, 1 portion thai green curry and all need rice" kind of dinners.

But I would like to get some nice fish, and I'll probably want a packet of Tayto at some point...

Probably getting last bits and pieces on 23rd.

Got all my veg at the weekend, they’re all dated until after Christmas. So will keep just fine in our fridge. The rest of its in the freezer.

Just have to do a normal food shop for ds coming home on Thursday.
