Haven't seen many lebkuchen (the German Christmas cookies) about this year either in Sainsburys/Aldi/Lidl. I did get some in Aldi the other day but the round chocolate ones?

Anyone seen any nice ones for sale?

Loads in lidl near me

Gonnagetgoing · 15/12/2021 11:28

That's me off to Lidl then!

Waitrose have got them.

ScouseQueen · 15/12/2021 11:29

Asda's are nice. Have liked the Aldi ones in previous years too.

WhatIsThisPlease · 15/12/2021 11:37

Sainsburys have lots where I am. They're not as good this year though. I got some lovely ones from my local farm shop.

MrsFionaCharming · 15/12/2021 12:04

Lidl, their Christmas selection is far superior to Aldi this year.

TurnUpTurnip · 15/12/2021 12:06

Sainsbury’s use to sell the most amazing ones but for some reason they changed them this year and now they are vile, even my kids won’t eat them!

Gonnagetgoing · 15/12/2021 12:35

@TurnUpTulip - Sainsburys did didn't they? thanks for the heads up - if I see them there I won't buy them!

I've only been in Lidl once this year near Christmas and only briefly so will go back again, thanks!

Aldi's Christmas selection was rubbish I agree - different to last year when it seemed much better.

@Hummingbirdcake

Waitrose have got them.
Thanks - there's one not far from me so will pop there.

Sainsburys have the star kind - agree they aren’t as good this year as last but they are still quite nice, definitely not vile!

TurnUpTurnip · 15/12/2021 12:42

Well everyone’s taste is different! I couldn’t eat them 😒

haba · 15/12/2021 12:52

The Waitrose ones are amazing!

MiracleBaby2022 · 15/12/2021 12:55

Waitrose - and they taste better than any others I've ever tasted

Thegreencup · 15/12/2021 12:58

Watching with interest. I usually get a big box of them from Asda because I love them. Our asda hasn't had any in this year.

NumaNumaYay · 15/12/2021 13:04

Sounds wanky but the Waitrose selection are amazing- all different types, some with jelly etc in, some nutty. I stock up every year and give them as presents - hope they don't change them!
I used to get the bags of heart ones etc but they stopped tasting so good in comparison Grin

ravenmum · 15/12/2021 13:09

Lebkuchen Schmidt are great if you wanted to order the good stuff in from Germany, though it's expensive from outside the EU obviously. (That might be the cause of any changes too perhaps?)

JustMary · 15/12/2021 13:10

Tesco has some. May have already had a full package of them to myself!

TheNinny · 15/12/2021 13:14

Tesco

NannyR · 15/12/2021 13:17

The lidl ones are addictive, especially the small shape ones coated in chocolate and the white meringue coating.

MomOfCritters · 15/12/2021 13:45

I've seen them in Aldi, they have the filled and non filled, and Tesco have had loads in, including a mixed selection of different types in one bag, I'm refusing to buy them any more as they just disappear way too quickly 😂🙈

Sausagis · 15/12/2021 13:55

I had some nice ones from home bargains of all places!

GiltEdges · 15/12/2021 14:01

Are you near a Betty's? They bake them fresh in store and they're lovely. Normally available to order from their website too, but look to be out of stock now.

@NannyR - I quite agree - will undo all my post-Christmas workout/dieting but am willing to take one for the team by eating them Grin.
