Haven't seen many lebkuchen (the German Christmas cookies) about this year either in Sainsburys/Aldi/Lidl. I did get some in Aldi the other day but the round chocolate ones?

Anyone seen any nice ones for sale?

@NumaNumaYay

Sounds wanky but the Waitrose selection are amazing- all different types, some with jelly etc in, some nutty. I stock up every year and give them as presents - hope they don't change them! I used to get the bags of heart ones etc but they stopped tasting so good in comparison Grin
@NumaNumaYay - I am drooling as I type!

I usually go to Waitrose after work or on weekend as near but not that near. I am definitely going there maybe after work come hell or high water.

You can get nice ones in Poundland, the ones in the box in different shapes are divine

@ravenmum

Lebkuchen Schmidt are great if you wanted to order the good stuff in from Germany, though it's expensive from outside the EU obviously. (That might be the cause of any changes too perhaps?)
@ravenmum - we used to get them delivered as family from Germany - as part of mum's side of family are German (grandad grew up in Bavaria, his mum was from Metz when it was German, etc tons of relatives in Trier (I think?).

They're honestly much the same as the ones you can buy here I found. We even got handmade ones sent a few times. Think it's too late to order from Germany now sadly.

@GettingStuffed - how handy - there's a Poundland just 10 mins walk from my place!

I got some from Aldi - dark chocolate heartshapes. I thought they were revolting,and chucked them away. They had a really weird chemical taste. (and no, I haven't got covid!)

We don't have a lot of supermarkets near us but thankfully the Lidl 15 or so miles away always has plenty of the German Christmas treat that is Lebkuchen! Enjoy!

@Thegreencup

Watching with interest. I usually get a big box of them from Asda because I love them. Our asda hasn't had any in this year.
They have them in plastic bags this year not boxes. I got a couple in my delivery last week at £1.50 each, so I am annoyed to see they are now reduced to £1! They are chocolate covered ones, haven't opened them yet.

We've had some from Aldi and Waitrose. Waitrose do a lovely Lebkuchen selection.

Very disappointed with the Tesco ones, hardly any flavour. Lidl is best IMO!!

@iwanttobeonleave - I'm trialling so far in no particular order:-
  1. Lidl
  2. Waitrose
  3. Poundland

it's a shame the first two are further away than the third. Might walk there rather than use car so I can offset calories.

Tesco!

Or my house. I'm absolutely inundated with the stuff.
