Do you do a Big Clean before Christmas?

I don't usually. Just do things as they need doing. But today it struck me that the kitchen cupboards were pretty filthy so I've given them a good scrub and cleaned the windows. Need to tackle the oven 😱

Just realised how dull this thread is

@MynameisWa

Just a question for people who don’t bother: if you don’t clean your house at Christmas, when do you do it?
The OP asks if people do a Big Clean. That's quite different to regular cleaning. If I was to do a big clean, I think I'd rather do it early Jan.

MynameisWa that's a very strange question which implies that you only clean your house at Christmas and just leave it the rest of the year WinkGrin

Yes house gutted top to bottom before the tree went up, great bribery to get dd9 to help!!

DockOTheBay · 13/12/2021 09:11

Nope just my normal cleaning. I barely have time to clean when the kids are at a school let alone when they're home, and it's only my parents coming over so it's not like they're bothered about the clutter which is there all year round

If you count utility room, box room etc we have 20 rooms. So far we have done 11 nicely. I wouldn’t say ‘deep clean’, because not much going on with sofa moving etc.,but it looks quite good. Two rooms and a shower room need doing ready for influx of family for Christmas, other areas can keep their usual dusty carapace.

@UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme lol! I’m guess I’m going by my own standards!! I.e do the minimal all year around and then panic clean before the relatives come. Grin

I'm with you @TooWicked. Unfortunately with builders in as soon as I do anything there's mud on the floor again and dust everywhere, so don't have anyone regular. They are taking a break after this week so hoping to get someone in!

Not now. My Rheumatoid arthritis is getting worse year on year. Large amounts of cleaning in one go would have me laid up for days in agony. 😔 DH does most of the housework now. DD(19) comes over to help DH get the tree up. Which is lovely and cheers me up so much.💕🎄
As you become increasingly unwell priorities change. Mine is no longer wiping skirting boards. 😂
I am going to make a baked cheesecake though for Christmas pudding. It will knacker me but it’s my contribution to our family Christmas. 😋
