I'm wrapping and sorting stocking fillers when the kids go out with DH for a bike ride.

Actually putting lights and tinsel up the banister (like I've been meaning to for two weeks) and then finishing the cards and sending them off

pinkksugarmouse · 11/12/2021 12:54

I wrapped two gifts yesterday. I will wrap more today if any parcels arrive and I am going to research where to get a good print of a picture I took of my cat. This is for a present.

Managed to find some chilli jelly (none of your jam thanks) for the cheese board this morning.

Just liaised with SIL about what they're bringing on the day and have agreed to do presents this year (we don't usually) so that's three more to think of...

Just fired up the Kindle for the Amazon Christmas playlist and am starting the cards. Non perishable Tescos order arriving today. Ordered two bottles of Baileys (@ £9.50 1L - would he rude not to!) So might crack one open. Apologies in advance to the latter end of the alphabet as the cards get less coherent...

@rifling

Making a Christmas pudding. New recipe this year - chocolate and cherry! Feeding the Christmas cake.
I make this pudding every year @rifling , it's really good.

Going to see in-laws for an early Christmas-style roast and a chat. Managed to get it to be on a day convenient to us rather than them, for once Smile.

Popping into Waitrose first (don't do my main shop there, it's where I change buses though) to get some host-gifts and the biscuits I promised to bring and then forgot about.

KoreyBay18 · 11/12/2021 15:13

I went to a Christmas marker, bought some gin, and am now back home having just finished wrapping all the presents! Super proud of myself :)

rifling · 11/12/2021 17:45

@shieldmaiden01 Good to know, thanks!

The kitchen was on my job list for today, I've been poorly recently and busy with work and the house had gotten away from me a bit so I've been doing a room every couple of days, I'm nearly there.

I didn't quite manage the whole kitchen but I reorganised the freezers so the Christmas food that's been hiding in the bottom of the chest freezer is now in two drawers in the fridge freezer and I've also done all the washing, just putting some away now and the last load is in the dryer, the basket is empty until bedtime. Just need to finish the kitchen tomorrow/Tuesday and keep on top of things now.

Today was "run the village christmas party" day. Home now on the sofa eating pizza and thinking about reading the dc the last couple of chapters of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and feeling really quite christmassy.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 19/12/2021 19:28

We are meant to be going to a restaurant for Christmas lunch. Today I have made the emergency freezer lunch we will have if it's cancelled.

Pegasussnail · 19/12/2021 19:35

Thats good for peace of mind daphne
I have bought a small turkey joint and have frozen veg incase of a covid case or lockdown

Today I got a few joke things for elf on the Shelf (Massive thing in this house)

Bought some gift bags and cards. Changed the batteries in all the fairy lights and little white houses. Had to go out and buy some too. Didn't do much else to be honest.

DaphneDeloresMoorhead · 19/12/2021 19:41

@Pegasussnail I'm in the middle of night shifts and DH is on a 12hr early so I was really looking forward to going out. Hopefully the insurance policy will work abd I can use it for DM's birthday meal on NYE

Whitefire · 19/12/2021 20:33

I have just put my wreath up (out?) the ongoing building work has paused over Christmas so I can now get it out without running the risk of it being ruined by cement etc.

Also, as I am completely unorganised (and having already cancelled Christmas get together) I have packaged up family presents to send tomorrow, I will pop them in a locker as I go past on my way to work to entrust them to Hermes - the one parcel is quite heavy as it has presents for my great nieces and nephews (4 altogether) and RM postage costs are quite frankly ridiculous - fingers crossed they both get there.

Poppins17 · 19/12/2021 20:51

I have packed my case of clothes, and going through final lists of food and kitchen stuff to take to the holiday home we’re travelling to on Christmas Eve

Timeisavirtue · 19/12/2021 22:58

Today I did the ironing as defo won’t be doing it next Sunday, I put all of the Christmas bedding on, mopped the floors as am working all week except Tuesday when I’m literally baking all day. Also dug the kids stockings out and hung them on thier beds ready.
I’ve already wrapped presents and sorted them to where they need to go..

So just to recommend send my bag' type services. They're so much cheaper than Royal Mail and you can track it's exact location. I sent a huge suitcase full to the brim from NI to my daughter in England and it was picked up at 6 pm and delivered at 2 pm the next day.
CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 19/12/2021 23:18

About to go to bed, but today I have:

  • wrapped almost all the presents
  • bought all the Christmas lunch ingredients (apart from a few things to get last minute)
  • bought those little bits and pieces that almost get forgotten, like MiL's favourite biscuits, etc
  • done five loads of washing
  • arranged NYE plans

I'm working all next week until lunchtime Christmas Eve so wanted to be as organised as possible!

Tomorrow evening have to tidy and make spare bed for MiL and FiL and hand deliver a few last minute Xmas cards.
