We fight and argue over ‘collaborative’ games and coppitt is all out war.

Any quick fun games that won’t turn into WW3?

Got uno, dobble, cards against humanity family, OK play, cluedo etc.

Any ideas?

Exploding Kittens? It's a card game.

ncsmummy · 07/12/2021 13:14

We play Cards against humanity every year and I also buy a new game each Christmas.
Last year it was brain fart which got really competitive.
This year I’ve gone for debatable because we all love a good “debate” and it sounds perfect for us

Don't get got.

Crepuscularshadows · 07/12/2021 13:26

The really nasty horse racing game. Embrace the end of convivial Christmas.

TheSpiral · 07/12/2021 13:31

Sushi Go?
My kids also argue over almost every game, especially Catan and Munchkin it seems. They have never argued over Sushi Go as far as I know, I can't see what there would be to argue over in it but I'm sure they could find something.

God yes. It look like it's all going so well and everything is jolly and lovely and nice and then in an instant someone will be kicking gnomes in the garden and screaming BUT I WAS WINNING I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

If you want something that will give you something you can talk about in hushed tones for every Christmas and family gathering ever more, the Really Nasty Horseracing Game is for you.

Fluxx - there are lots of variants and some are better than others. We particularly like Pirate Fluxx and Anatomy Fluxx.

Glad to hear someone else take Coppit seriously Grin

toomuchlaundry · 07/12/2021 13:54

Taskmaster

girlmom21 · 07/12/2021 13:59

I love trivial pursuit but it depends on your family. We all love quizzes here.

userwhatever01 · 07/12/2021 14:57

Sushi Go and Fluxx sound good. Thanks!

Can’t play Triv, bloody husband knows everything.

Not the horse racing game !!! My eldest plays games like they are game of ‘Damage’ from the Iain M Banks books.

The really nasty horse racing game is single handedly responsible for the rule "no board games before dinner".... After the Christmas Eve dinner that didn't happen after a major horse racing related temper tantrum...

Ah, the glory days. Now we play camel cup. I miss the viciousness.

APurpleSquirrel · 07/12/2021 17:17

Dixit
Secret Hitler

IntemperateSpirits · 07/12/2021 17:17

Crepuscularshadows Proves my point Grin

We played it a couple of months ago - the DC teamed up to start off with and then one of them double crossed another one. They asked to play the weekend after though, and they are grotty teenagers, so it does have something. And they wanted to play the weekend afterwards as well but DH refused Grin

ShortColdandGrey · 07/12/2021 17:44

Betrayal at house on the hill. My DD loves it when she gets to be the betrayer Grin. I believe you get a Scooby-doo version as well.

JuneOsborne · 07/12/2021 17:46

Yeah, we like Dixit and Secret Hitler @APurpleSquirrel and I cane in to suggest them!

Ormally · 07/12/2021 17:50

Dixit or Taskmaster (2nd more likely to end in conflict but it's kind of the point).

2319inprogress · 07/12/2021 17:52

Oh my god not Fluxx!! The rule changes mean you can be about to win & then get crushed Grin not bitter

What about something like Segrada where you're playing your own game & only know who's won when you count up?
Although it's not that quick... tsuro could fit the bill maybe.

BlueChampagne · 08/12/2021 14:21

Been done, 2319inprogress? Grin

How about Consequences? MadLibs?

steppingcarefully · 08/12/2021 16:38

Jask although you will end up arguing over whether the words given are acceptable!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/12/2021 16:45

herd mentality - but you need at least 6 people for it to be properly fun

WoodenReindeer · 08/12/2021 16:45

Dobble for all age fun
Exploding kittens is good.

BluebellsGreenbells · 08/12/2021 16:48

Labyrinth is a fun game for 4 players

5foot5 · 08/12/2021 16:50

Well it is another collaborative but we found Mysterium really good fun

MoltenLasagne · 08/12/2021 16:53

Pass the pigs?
