We fight and argue over ‘collaborative’ games and coppitt is all out war.

Any quick fun games that won’t turn into WW3?

Got uno, dobble, cards against humanity family, OK play, cluedo etc.

Any ideas?

Telestrations is really fun (& nobody has to win!)

BlueSkyeThinker · 08/12/2021 16:59

My sister gave us Mr & Mrs a few years ago. Most of it's 'how well do you know the other person' so you can team up siblings to play in teams, as well as visiting couples. As well as the predictable row starters ('Who is the messiest? Who is the first/last to buy a round?') there are also some more thought-provoking questions ('Who is the kindest? What would have been his/her dream job as a child?') etc.

Worth it for the sight of our most Happily Married friends turning into Mr 'Sure it's just a game' and Mrs 'NO NO WE ARE GOING WIN THIS, GARY' in front of our very eyes.

Disclaimer: you have to provide your own soundproof booth and caravan holiday in Allonby.

Sheriff of Nottingham
Sabatour
Greedy greedy goblins
Love letter
Jamaica

Fluxx is great as full of comeuppance! But not very complex...we like camel cup too..
Our lot argue over pass the 🐖...dobble
Love letters, gubz, port royal other simpler games...

TheNoonBell · 08/12/2021 17:23

Ra (the game) is pretty good. 2-5 players, very easy to learn. You just collect tiles by bidding - great for competative people.

From all good boardgame shops and Amazon.

Got a new set of trivial pursuit this year, the only way I can beat the kids at games though dd1 laughs when I get questions wrong she knows (they are all adults)

Niffler92 · 08/12/2021 17:27

Dixit, mysterium, ticket to ride,

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 08/12/2021 17:32

What about genius square?
We play winner stays on tournaments.

RedBonnet · 08/12/2021 17:34

Accentuate (was on dragon's den). You'll be too busy laughing to argue. And it won't break the bank like a lot of games (under £20)

Optimist1 · 08/12/2021 17:39

Shot in the Dark (questions on cards) - very funny, and the know-it-alls are no more likely to win than anyone else.

Ariela · 08/12/2021 17:47

We are a very competitive Rummikub playing family. To the extent there is a Book in which the cumulative and average scores are listed dating back about 15 years.
I cannot post this without saying I am leading.

Puffinhead · 08/12/2021 18:20

What about something more simple - I love triominoes! Although it’s not necessarily a quick game. Yahtzee?

Sequence is also a good game.

Peaceloveandcrispsandwiches · 08/12/2021 19:25

Apart from immediate family that I play it with, no one else I've ever met has heard of Coppit and how competative it can get. I've finally found my people!

TheMissingMango · 08/12/2021 19:27

Rummikub or Ticket to Ride

rockywilderness · 08/12/2021 21:18

You could try Castle Panic, takes a little while to read the rules but it's a cooperative game so it's all of you versus the game (it makes sense when you play it!) so you all win or you all lose.

MindTheGapMoveAlong · 08/12/2021 21:35

Exploding kittens! I'm the least strategic thinker in my immediate family (DH former internationally ranked chess player, & DCs take after him) and I still always win. Grin

SSOYS · 08/12/2021 21:38

Chameleon- my favourite game.

userwhatever01 · 12/12/2021 18:32

I just saw all the updates ! Thank you!

Coppit is evil, someone always ends up crying with rage as their ‘hat’ and hats they’ve stolen get got by someone else on their way back to their base. Dc2 just sticks by his base in fear.

Fluxx looks good as quick to learn, are they all basically the same game? Just different versions? Zombie looks good.

Got exploding kittens.

Will check out Dixie and the others

How about Risk? Grin Embrace all out war

Stokey · 12/12/2021 18:50

How old are the kids? Forbidden Island is a good collaborative game. We also really like 7 Wonders (Dds are 12 & 9 but have been playing it for a couple of years) , you pass your hand on after each go and it's pretty hard to know who's winning until the final tally.
Youngest loves Dixit. The Crew games are a good collab card game, it's basically Whist but you have to play together to complete missions.

Bells3032 · 12/12/2021 18:54

Munchkins. It's great to be super mean to each other

purplesequins · 12/12/2021 19:07

azul (my personal favourite)
settlers of catan
just one
one night (werewolves) a card&audio game (dc favourite)

Justkeepleft · 12/12/2021 19:18

Came in to say 7 wonders as well. Machine korro is similar and good fun.

Heronatemygoldfish · 12/12/2021 19:21

I have a game-loving family and I am not quite as keen, but I can cope with
Fluxx (original, no creepers)
Port Royale
Carcassonne
Dragonology

If you want to really ignite the blue touchpaper over a board game, get hold of Cheaters' Monopoly.

Grin
