Please help me find an impossibly tiny box

I am looking for probably the teeniest tiniest box in the world. I have purchased a extreme micro crochet animal for my DD 14 and I need a box to put him in. He’s so small, just about a cm in length.
I’m going to wrap him in a bigger box, then a bigger one, then a bigger one, with “nope, not yet” on every layer until she gets to the impossibly tiny centre.

These are the most amazing things I have ever seen!!!! Are we all on etsy now??

BashfulClam · 11/11/2021 23:23

Be careful, my etsy addiction is terrible….now you are all under its spell!

madroid · 12/11/2021 00:47

You are all completely, ravingly nuts Grin

I love these! (Especially now I know the animal is an axolotls and not a weird, mermaid embryo thing). Those round lockets sometimes have a bell in them and used to be worn on long chains by pregnant women, and they ring when the baby kicks. I think they’re called “angel bells” or something like that. You can also get solid ones.

I got some earrings in a tiny glass corked bottle last year, that would cute.

sashh · 12/11/2021 07:02

I once did similar with earrings.

I got a basic box origami pattern and just kept making the box smaller and smaller. This is the box I used and then made a smaller one fit in the other way up.

Oh I used wrapping paper as well, don't try it with a shiny paper.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/11/2021 07:19

Oh I really love that. Try etsy they have everything.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/11/2021 07:19

Or you can buy tiny gift boxes for dolls houses.

Redwinestillfine · 12/11/2021 07:59

Matchbox?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 12/11/2021 08:42

P.S the picture/link is of teeny dollshouse hatboxes on etsy :-)

I expect you have your bigger boxes sorted by now, but in case anyone is interested, you can buy nests of coloured cardboard boxes which fit inside one another, with their lids on. I bought a circular set from Ikea several years ago, biggest box about 15cms across, and it held around ten in ever decreasing sizes, all different colours. A bit like the one below on Amazon, to give the idea, and it seems you can get them in square or heart shapes too.

Copy this into the Amazon search box:

I want to try micro crochet now. I need new glasses so might have to wait till I get them. Crochet is physio for my arthritic hands but I think everyone I know is getting fed up with crochet things, I can't keep them all and I can't unrip them every time, seems such a waste.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2021 09:30

How funny, I read your OP, looked up to see what an extreme micro crochet animal was (I crochet, but would never have the skill or patience for that!) and thought "my eldest would LOVE an axolotl one of those" 😂

Are axolotls a thing just now? Shall we expect to see clothing and accessories with axolotls? I do hope so.

DumplingsAndStew · 12/11/2021 09:33

I bought this crochet axolotl from etsy last year and would recommend this seller (though they don't have any axolotls in the shop at this time)

I love it!! Have to resist ordering one because I know I’ll just want a whole micro menagerie...
