@bigarse1

Does your little one enjoy lights? What about some LED strip lights for his bedroom/bed space? They usually come with a remote for adjusting colour and flash pattern, and can often be further personalised with an app.

I know some people were looking for heated blankets/throws and I've just seen this one on HUKD.

Heated over blanket £30 from Weekly Deals 4 Less (I've not used that website but they seem to get good Trust Pilot reviews

DS has a Yoto which I chose over the Tonie box as it's styled more towards older children and the cards cost less than the Tonie ones (although I think the player is slightly more expensive).

You can get 10% off the player with a referral code.

Ds mostly listens to the radio show they have on there. There's a new show every day which seems pretty educational. I think there is a music radio station too but I haven't worked that one out yet!

@bigarse1 - sorry this is a bit of a derail but could I ask does the theraputty have a strong smell ( DS ADHD but very sensory with smell - likes squishies and stretchy fidgets rather than poppets/fiddles so I’m wondering if the putty might be good!)

Elphaba17 · 29/10/2021 09:10

For those looking dairy free chocolate we discovered the NOMO brand at Easter and it's now DSs favourite. I think it's a nicer taste and texture than the moo free stuff too though the range isn't as big or as easy to get hold off, at least in my local stores. I got the advent calendar last week instore at Tesco for £4 and it looks good, along with the Tesco own brand chocolate coins. Moo Free do have a more exciting looking range, they had lovely little Halloween bars too and will probably have the same for Xmas and they do the selection boxes which always look well.

@mummyof2boys30

Anyone seen good quality fidget toys? The last poppet we had fell apart the day he got it. Awaiting ASD and ADHD assessment. Thanks
We got this one before. It was on offer so got it for about 12 pounds and I was very pleased as there was tons in it and lots that u can just pop in your pocket, bag or car

I haven't noticed a smell. We have worked our way through a lot of different putty type things but this one was recommended by the ot and really is worth the money. She recommended buying a huge tub and seperating into smaller ones. All of mine spend ages with it! We also have a set from learning space which is a set of, I think, 5 different pots all in different colours and strengths. Would buy both of those again over the cheaper ones

He does like lights but has no impulse control and touches everything. But I'm thinking I could put them up high for him to look at when in bed. Just have to be clever with my positioning so as not to encourage climbing 😂

My ex works for WHSmith (warehouse, not retail) and says most of their revenue comes from travel - airports, train stations, service stations, hospitals etc. They may have suffered in this respect due to covid = less travel, but that is back on the up now and they shouldn’t ever go bust as those stores are the backbone of the company. The high street stores don’t make much money at all, so I am surprised they are still going. But I suppose they can afford to keep them, to keep the name on the high street, while they are still making plenty on travel.[/quote]
Yes the store in Lincoln is a very big unit but it was virtually empty of customers but had some lovely things in there I bought quite a bit and all very reasonable with lots of offers on.
The shop was a little run down but if it ticks over perhaps it'll last - it's near a new development in Lincoln with lots of nice shops so maybe it's location will help. The staff were very nice so I hope for them it doesn't close.

Beakerandbungle · 29/10/2021 09:16

Thanks @bigarse1 - sounds like it’s worth a try ( and probably safer than the stretchy ones that he longs and let’s fly Shock)

PinkDaydreams · 29/10/2021 09:18

Can anybody recommend a light up drawing board please for a nearly 4yo?
Son has asd and likes anything that lights up, I'm trying to get him drawing as he just isn't interested in pens/crayons/paint etc. I remember them on here last year but would prefer a recommendation from here as there are so many different ones on Google/Amazon Confused

IggyAce · 29/10/2021 09:23

@DessieSaysDiy my daughter has a nomination bracelet, we use John Creed for charms the nomination bracelet is a metal bracelet you take a link out and replace with the charm tile. You can have it done at a jewellers or there is a tool you can buy to do it yourself. So each tile/link you remove can make another bracelet. Hope that makes sense.

Anyone know how to order a nomination bracelet and charms for less?? Seen some places we’re offering a free silver looking (metal?) bracelet if you bought 2 charms at 30 each Anyone know if that’s a good bracelet?? Tia
my DH got me a nomination bracelet about 15 years ago with the initials of my children plus birth stones links - I have worn it every day since and its still great condition.

@Autumnleaves4, it heats up throughout. Not enormously - it is not like putting a hot water bottle on (if you see what I mean), but you will be well covered. I'm 5ft 5in, and it covers from my feet to my chin! The grey colour is not the most cheery, but the underneath is nice and apparently you can wash it! Although I have to say that I never would. I usually have it on '4', going up to 5 or 6 if I have got incredibly chilled. Goes up to 8.

@bigarse1 the vegan galaxy that was mentioned is lovely (I've got various intolerances too!) But does say on the packet not suitable for milk allergies. As I presume its made in the same factory. So ok if you are vegan or like me I avoid dairy because it flares up my IBS not if its a severe allergy.

If your little one likes ponies, could you get a mould and some chocolate to melt?

For your youngest, what about things he needs wrapped up, so swimming stuff and suggest to family to put towards lessons or activities he enjoys. If they need to give a token gift to open maybe chocolates or a book? If he isn't bothered by stuff I would be inclined to just bulk up his gifts with necessities so he doesn't look like he's left out.

Does anyone recall the best discount possible at Nike.com? My fussy teenager wants to design a pair as he can’t find plain black leather hi-tops. They must have a black sole (not white) in the Blazer style. Adult size 10!

mummyof2boys30 · 29/10/2021 10:23

Thank you for all the fidget recommendations 😊

IggyAce · 29/10/2021 10:38

Not a bargain but the Fortnum & Mason Christmas book arrived today. Now to decide if I’m going to order some treats, any recommendations?
