If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

What would be your top bargain hunter tips for a games console for a 12 and a 9 yr old? DD1 is getting a laptop for xmas and DD2 has vaguely started asking about a games console of some sort so I thought we might get that for her. Neither DD has shown an interest before so they won't care about it being the 'coolest' model. DD2 mentioned a switch but only because her friend has one. We had a wii about 15 years ago but that's it so I'm completely clueless.

So which console would you suggest that 1) isn't too expensive, 2) would be suitable for a 9 year old, 3) we can play games on as a family - maybe a dance game or carting??? Thanks!

A switch definitely sounds like it would fit the bill (not the lite though as this doesn't plug into the TV so can't play multilayer games), however it's not cheap. Nintendo stuff doesn't tend to go down in price much, bar the odd small % off now and then. I bought mind on black Friday from amazon a few years back so worth keeping an eye out, be at least £200 though, maybe more as seem to be short in stock at the moment.

@toffeeshock

I don’t suppose anyone knows of a 15 or 20% off code that will work on ASOS on top of today’s automatic 20% off?
I would also be interested in this if anyone knows of one!
chillimice · 28/10/2021 20:39

Hi @bigarse1 I found the snow queen and rockabilly Lottie here for £17.99 with free postage but they do go cheaper coming up to Black Friday too x

Tailrunner · 28/10/2021 20:40

Thanks Fetarabbit, I'll keep an eye on the switch. I was wondering whether we could go for a second hand wii, xbox or playstation this year and upgrade if they actually play with it but it might be false economy if we just end up having to get the switch eventually anyway.

cinders222 · 28/10/2021 20:46

@Freeekedout

Tesco Clubcard have some Switch games (Mario Kart, Animal Crossing) for £20 for delivery from tomorrow. I have a delivery coming tomorrow, but it says offer incomplete when I add it to the basket. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but worth keeping an eye out for it if you have a Nintendo fan!
Thanks Wont let me add either saying Missed offer. Animal Crossing is on my list so will keep trying.
Ruralretreating · 28/10/2021 21:00

@bigarse1 I’m so sorry you are dealing with so much. I have a DS with ASD/ADHD and DC with multiple allergies but fortunately not in combination. I can only imagine how challenging that must be. I’ve just purchased lots of free-from stuff from Asda online that I haven’t seen elsewhere and they seem to have new things in their extra special range. Happy to chat by DM if there’s anything specific you’re looking for as we’re blessed with easy access to multiple supermarkets so I have a good knowledge of multiple free-from ranges, if it’s any use.

mrsanflowerpot · 28/10/2021 21:06

@Puffalicious

Anyone have intel on any Fortnite goodies anywhere? I've ordered bits and bobs this year and the quality varies enormously. Recently ordered a 'hoodie' and it's a long sleeved tshirt with hood and dodgy quality- and it wasn't that cheap! DS3 is Fortnite daft. He's after a Marshmellow tracksuit in particular, but any other merchandise would do.

Thanks.

Yes, yes, yes me too - any intel would be HUGELY appreciated. As would any PS5 info.
Voiceofreason92 · 28/10/2021 21:11

Lego ice cream truck back down to £8 on amazon. Says not in stock until December

2lostsouls · 28/10/2021 21:22

@Freeekedout I’m after animal crossing too but can’t make it work- let me know if you have any success!

MysticCT · 28/10/2021 21:26
@MysticCT you’re better getting them in the 3 for 2 at full price (unless they’re still 3 for 2)?

So say 3 sets at £10 each for ease. 3 for 2 is £20. 25% off means each one is £7.50 so £22.50 for 3.
@Minionbums Thanks, I thought it would probably be that one.
@RJnomore1 Thanks, yes that is a better deal, unfortunately I don't have enough points for two, can I pay for one with points and card for the second one and still get the third free ?

Maranello · 28/10/2021 21:27

@Puffalicious @mrsanflowerpot I use Just Geek for merch** of various types and they have some Fortnite stuff including Christmas baubles. I've had the Pin Kings sets (Harry Potter ones, but they do Fortnite too) from there and they've been good quality.

I have a referral code for £5 off a £30 spend that I'll pop on the referral thread in case it's any use.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/10/2021 21:28

@Ruralretreating, don't suppose you've seen a free from Yule log have you? My local supermarkets have a pitiful selection.

girlsyearapart · 28/10/2021 21:28

Primark had PlayStation and fortnite stuff last time I went in

Thanks. It is a tricky combo. We have two diagnosed with ASD/ADHD/SPD and a ton of other stuff and multiple allergies and one just been diagnosed with ADHD/SPD and going through asd assessment and has a different allergy. Then covid has left me with damage to my heart and lungs and diabetes so my diet has to be managed as well.
I managed to get a shop delivered from Asda the other day funnily enough and managed to get some Xmas choc they could eat and I managed to hide it as the driver had guessed I didn't want them to see it.
We have been dealing with it for a long time so kind of know what we r doing, just some times, like these u wish for an easy ready meal! The allergies combined with the asd rules and the energy burnt from ADHD are quite a combo!

thaegumathteth · 28/10/2021 21:31

I don't suppose anyone has a sports direct discount code?

bigarse1 · 28/10/2021 21:31

@chillimice

Hi *@bigarse1* I found the snow queen and rockabilly Lottie here for £17.99 with free postage but they do go cheaper coming up to Black Friday too x
Brilliant thanks!
Maranello · 28/10/2021 21:34

@thaegumathteth if you know someone with access to an NHS or student discount, that gives you either 20% or 10% off at Sports Direct. I don't have either, sadly! But sometimes people on here can share student codes.

thaegumathteth · 28/10/2021 21:36

Oh thanks @Maranello I know people who work for NHS but none I could really ask for a code disappointingly! Can't wait for ds to become a student so I can steal all his discounts! 😂

bigarse1 · 28/10/2021 21:36
@bigarse1 💐 Please let us know if there are any other items you need help to find bargain prices for. Could you buy duplicate stockings so that you can pre-fill their stockings and hide them away, and then do a quick switch over at a point when they've managed to reach a deeper point in their sleep? Hope you're managing to find some time for yourself in all of this.
I did think of this but their stockings are quite old and I couldn't find the same anywhere. I think I will sort it all ahead of time and put in separate bags so I can just swipe the stockings into my room, fill them and pop them back. The sleep will def be an issue!
The other thing is ideas for my little boy. We always struggle but with two of us about we bought things we could do with him. He is eight but very young. Severely autistic with extra chromosomes and stuff going on. Basically doesn't play with anything really, cannot be left alone for even a second. Over the years we have done all the comfort stuff, and he has sensory stuff coming out of his ears. We did buy him a couple of switch games last year which he liked with help and strangely enough he likes watching people make circuits so may see if I can get a more advanced kit. Other than that he is a tough one to buy for. Always has been and then others want ideas too

Sadly I have never known ASOS codes to stack. I would love to be proved wrong though!!
duckduckswan · 28/10/2021 21:53

My niece has asked for bears vs babies. I’ve just seen it on onbuy.com for £14.99. Does anyone know if this is a trustworthy site and whether it will be the real thing?

Oh thank you!! I'll give it a go!!

RJnomore1 · 28/10/2021 21:56

@MysticCT ah that’s a bugger, just went and tried and no.

Do you have enough for one item and two smaller - say £10 £5 £5 you’d be £15 for example?
