But we are finding it hard to find anything because everything he has asked for the family have stepped forward and said they are getting it. We both have big families so its always a nightmare at this time of year trying to get him to give ideas.

So if anyone can please give us some ideas then i would be very greatful.

He is 5 now by the way.

My 4 yo DS is getting the keyboard from ELC. Any good?

meandboys · 10/12/2007 21:04

Thanks for the idea but he got one last year! We are having the problem every year now. My husband has 3 brothers and a sister and i have 2 sisters and a brother. Plus husbands parents and grandparents and my parents, so there is always the question, 'what can we get him this year?'

Anymore ideas anyone?

Easel? Dd got one last year, (she's only 5 now) and she still plays with it.

meandboys · 10/12/2007 21:44

Maybe, he had a small one a few years ago, but broke it, it was only a plastic one from the catologue. But he really enjoyed. So maybe, he can fit one somewhere in his bedroom with all the other bits we should be getting! Thanks

Oh dear, i think its just hit me, i need to have a sort out in the boys bedroom!

Get him tickets to something at the theatre?

meandboys · 10/12/2007 21:52

I am not sure they would let his brother in who is 2.5yrs and still going through the terrible 2's!

I took my son to the theatre once before and he really enjoyed himself.

Yes - that would make it difficult, I guess.

pantoinghousewife · 10/12/2007 21:58

Lego? Lego is always popular in our house and worth the money, it always gets played with.

mumofmonSTARsOfBethlehem · 10/12/2007 22:00

can you get something to be built on like train track? we started off with a cheap circle of wooden track that has grown considerably and we now also have blue thomas track which gets new bits for b'days/xmas

playmobil/lego/duplo can be built on (and with!)

meandboys · 10/12/2007 22:00

Got loads of lego! With 2 boys they got it of 4 people last year!

Playmobil - start collecting one of the big sets.

meandboys · 10/12/2007 22:04

Loads of thomas stuff! We spent £200+ on the track and trains last year! It was the boys main present!

I just hate trying to find ideas for present! They seem to have everything, and i dont like the thought of having nothing for them to open on christmas morning

Oh well... you will get years out of that lego you got last year, I promise you, ds played with it up until he was about 12!

meandboys · 10/12/2007 22:05

Playmobil, haven't got any of that yet!
Great, there one idea!

Dd has it now, I'll wring another few years out of it yet!

meandboys · 10/12/2007 22:11

oh dear, lego around the place for another 10 years LOL!

scrummyfairyontopofthetree · 10/12/2007 22:20

My DS's are 10.5 and 8 and they still play with the wooden trainset DS1 got when he was about 4. They have a huge amount of lego and this is still played with on a regular basis.

DS2 loves big Tonka type trucks and has done since he was little. He has asked for a CAT excavator for christmas - he had seen it in the Toys r Us catalogue, but Wilkinsons Plus are actually £10 cheaper.

MY DS is 5, his grandad just got him a nintendo DS he loves it! I was a bit wary that he may be too young But he seems fine with it!

Just an idea

We got DS playmobil (few sets), lego, set of rubbger dinosaurs, moon sand I know! Portable DVD player, Few games for his DS.

Most of my family are really lazy and give me the money to get my boys though!

Julezboo · 10/12/2007 23:18

obv meant rubber

QuintessentialShadowOfSnowball · 10/12/2007 23:18

A really good microscope so he can study bugs and worms, etc?

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2007 23:21

Yes, yes, Playmobil! My ds started his collection when he was 5... he's now just 7 and his collection is MASSIVE! But he plays with it all the time. Get him a decent big set (whatever his interests are) and one or two accessories. Then, next year, when everyone wants to know what to buy for him, present them with the huge list of Playmobil sets he will, by then want!

Playmobil is such great stuff you will never look back!
